How to catch a Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds – Grand Escunite location

In the thrilling world of Monster Hunter Wilds, I’m always on the hunt for elusive aquatic creatures, and the Grand Escuniet is one such rare gem. This intriguing creature is part of a series of fishing side quests that, when completed, grant access to various baits and boost my HR level. Finding this elusive variant of the Escuntie line can be quite the challenge and, at times, incredibly frustrating, but the thrill of the chase keeps me coming back!

In a single location alone, the elusive Grand Escunite is hidden, and uncovering its whereabouts may require considerable patience and exploration. You might need to repeatedly switch between locations and refresh the environments, hoping for that brief moment when the glowing creature emerges from the gloomy depths.

Where to find a Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds

Razzle Dazzle side quest – Grand Escunite location

Catching a Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds isn’t as simple as it sounds, but we’ve had better success in one particular place. This elusive creature can exclusively be found within the Forest, and our best encounters have been in Area 12.

Right near Area 12, you’ll find a concealed grotto nestled behind a picturesque waterfall next to an expansive pool of water to the east. As you explore this area, keep your eyes peeled for an opportunity to take a swim and uncover a smaller section. However, instead of diving, I’d recommend carefully approaching the grand pool where the enigmatic Grand Escunite is often found.

Typically, the Grand Escunite dwells beneath the water and exhibits a light-blue, phosphorescent shell that flickers for a brief moment when you enter the vicinity, then remains stationary. However, it’s not certain if one will appear, so if none is present, reload the Forest and persistently return to this location until eventually, one emerges.

It appears that we stand a greater chance of spotting it in the morning, particularly during the Plenty season. However, it can also be found atop Area 16 during the night, as its bioluminescent shell makes it more noticeable. At this point, we’re uncertain if weather conditions influence its spawning or if our frequent discoveries are merely coincidental, given that they have consistently occurred during the same time frame.

How to catch a Grand Escunite in MH Wilds

Upon encountering the Grand Escunite, you have two options for catching it: First, you can utilize a fishing rod with Tentacle Jigs as bait or opt for an alternative method that bypasses traditional fishing entirely. If it’s nearby, you can swap out your fishing rod and instead use a Capture Net. By firing the net into the water, it will scoop up any fish without requiring the use of the fishing rod at all.

If you encounter an Aquation Endemic Life creature that resembles a shell and doesn’t appear to be glowing, don’t panic and flee. It might still be the elusive blue variant you’re searching for. Sometimes, rarer species don’t always glow as expected, and we’re not sure if this is due to a bug or if creatures only emit light occasionally.

To avoid missing out on capturing the creature and concluding the side quest more promptly, it’s best not to risk leaving the area unnecessarily. Better safe than sorry.
