Recently, James Gunn clarified on social media that there’s no truth to speculations about Daniel Radcliffe joining the upcoming DC Universe project titled “Clayface.” This film, currently under development, will have a horror twist as part of its storyline based on the comic book series. Mike Flanagan, known for his work in “Doctor Sleep,” is writing the script for this movie. Peter Safran, who co-chairs DC Studios with Gunn, previously announced that discussions are ongoing with “Speak No Evil” director James Watkins regarding directing the film.
In a recent statement, Gunn clarified that the deal with James for directing has indeed been finalized, which came amid speculations about him potentially playing the lead role in the upcoming project. However, contrary to some rumors, we haven’t initiated the casting process yet as we don’t have a director on board just yet. Daniel Radcliffe is a fantastic actor, but there have been no discussions or considerations regarding his involvement so far. To set the record straight, this particular piece of news is entirely false.
Safran refers to the “Clayface” film as a chilling “body horror production.” Earlier, Gunn stated that DC Studios aims for this movie to be an effective horror experience even for those with no interest in DC, as it’s slated for release on September 11, 2026 by Warner Bros.
