How the Damona Birthing Retreat Could Save Severance Season 2 from Disaster!

In Severance Season 2 Episode 7, Devon shares details of her intricate “business spy” strategy with Mark. This scheme is directly connected to the Damona Birthing Retreat – a potential goldmine for corporate secrets! (Be aware: plot spoilers lie ahead!)

In the sixth episode of Season 2, Devon ventures into Mark’s residence, armed with a fresh strategy to uncover the mysteries surrounding Lumon. Unbeknownst to her, Mark has recently undergone brain surgery in his basement, which is part of the re-integration procedure.

Just as Asal Reghabi is about to hear the end of her friend’s sentence, he suddenly faints and seizes. Immediately, Asal Reghabi hurries in and attempts to stabilize him. The scene then concludes.

In the latest installment of the Apple TV+ show, there’s a strong emphasis on the character Gemma, yet we also catch a glimpse of the post-surgery events. During this period, Devon presents his strategy, which, while not perfect, isn’t the most far-fetched either.

What is the Damona Birthing Retreat?

The Damona Birthing Sanctuary offers a collection of cozy yet lavish cabins nestled in the town of Kier, PE, specifically tailored for expectant mothers to welcome new life. This facility is introduced in Severance Season 1, when Devon and Ricken make a visit for their baby delivery.

During their stay, Devon encounters a woman named Gabriela Arteta, who turns out to be the spouse of Senator Angelo Arteta; and they are both prominent figures associated with Lumon Industries.

In simple terms, when Devon encounters Gabby outside, it appears that Gabby doesn’t recognize her, which may indicate that Gabby went through a procedure known as “severance,” allowing her “Outie” (outer mind) to bypass the agony of childbirth.

The day after Mark’s fainting spell in Season 2 Episode 7, he’s alive but remains unconscious. Reghabi is confident that he’ll recover when he’s good and ready, but Devon feels the need to take action.

She proposes her idea of visiting the Damona Birthing Retreat, explaining that this is where people who’ve been separated become their “Innies,” similar to Gabby. However, Reghabi disagrees, calling it something “different.” Essentially, employees who are severed at Lumon are distinct from those who are severed elsewhere. But what if Devon is correct?

Devon’s plan could solve Severance’s biggest problem

If a means exists to trigger the severance device at the Damona Birthing Center, as we suspect it does in some fashion, then activating it could potentially allow Devon and Outie Mark’s Innie to interact.

For Season 2, they’ve been working diligently to uncover the mystery surrounding Gemma. In Episode 3, Devon assists his sibling in constructing a special lamp labeled “Who’s Alive?” with the intention of sending a message to his Innie.

As Reghabi notes, the device malfunctions since individuals’ pupils widen when moving from an Outie to an Innie state. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Lumon claims to have coded elevator detectors, which would prevent any secret communication from taking place.

If Devon manages to escort Mark to the retreat, there’s a chance we could awaken his Innie and devise a strategy. I’m confident that Harmony Cobel can facilitate this mission.

Despite Reghabi’s strong opposition, claiming that Cobel symbolizes Lumon, the clock is ticking. The Damona Birthing Retreat could potentially be their last and only opportunity to penetrate Lumon’s fortress and ultimately reveal the truth they seek.
