How To Unlock High Rank (HR) in Monster Hunter Wilds

Discover the methods to advance to the High Rank (HR) in Monster Hunter Worlds, so you can participate in more challenging hunts that offer superior loot as rewards.

For an experienced hunter, Monster Hunter Wilds’ Low Rank (LR) may not present much difficulty. To advance to High Rank (HR), however, you need to complete LR as quickly as possible and perform certain tasks. This process is relatively simple, but first, you must capture a pesky monster that can be quite bothersome.

In this write-up, we’ll guide you through the process of achieving Advanced Rank (AR) in Monster Hunter Wildspire, allowing you to embark on more challenging quests.

Steps To Unlock High Rank (HR) in Monster Hunter Wilds

Here is how you can unlock High Rank (HR) in Monster Hunter Wilds:

  • Defeat Zoh Shia, the final boss in Low Rank (LR).
  • Talk to Nata at your Windward Plains Base Camp.
  • Go to survey the land and talk to Sassafrill (Wudwud Chief.)
  • Capture a Yian Kut-Ku.

In the game LR, Zoh Shia is the last major character you’ll encounter in the main story. But don’t worry, defeating him doesn’t mean you’ve completed the stage in LR. If you choose to participate in any of the Optional Assignments, they will still be available at Low Rank. At this point, you haven’t unlocked High Rank monster hunts yet.

Following your victory against Zoh Shia, you’ll come to understand that its demise has had broader impacts on the ecosystem, mainly due to the Dragontorch’s energy. Upon your return to the Base Camp, you will be tasked with conducting an investigation of the Scarlet Forest. Here, you’ll encounter Sassafrill, a local resident from Wudwud village. This character will share news about a Yian Kut-Ku problem, and your next objective will be to trap a Yiak Kut Ku instead.

It’s crucial to keep in mind that instead of destroying it, you should only trap a Yian Kut-Ku. Unfortunately, our team at Deltia’s Gaming had to perform this quest three times because we accidentally killed the Yian Kut-Ku during our first two attempts. This unfortunate mistake prevented us from progressing to High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Following this point, the creatures you’ll stumble upon in the wilderness are all High Rank monsters. Overcoming them in the open-world environment will not only give you a sense of achievement but also make these High Rank monsters available as Optional Assignments in Monster Hunter Wilds for future challenges.
