Jake Paul Fires Back at Floyd Mayweather’s Challenge

In response to Floyd Mayweather’s comment that beating Jake Paul as a professional boxer would be “overly simple,” Jake Paul retaliated.

On February 26, Floyd “Money” Mayweather appeared as a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night talk show, The Tonight Show. In their conversation, the retired boxing legend threw some verbal jabs at Jake Paul.

48 years old, it’s just too effortless for Mayweather when he was asked about the potential fight against Logan Paul. He found it overly simple.

In addition, Fallon initiated a chat about the highly anticipated fight between Paul and Tyson, scheduled for November 2024. However, this event faced technical difficulties after over 60 million viewers had joined through Netflix. Upon hearing this topic, Mayweather shared his thoughts:

Essentially, it’s important to note that when you’re enjoying boxing matches without charge, there’s a possibility of amassing an incredibly large number of views, potentially even hundreds of millions. Conversely, if you want to watch Floyd Mayweather fight, you must pay for the privilege. I can confirm this from my own experience, as I have broken records in Pay Per View sales.

In response to Mayweather on platform X, Paul boldly declared he could defeat him within just a few rounds. His tweet read: “You’re a washout! Deji left you with a shiner at an event attended by 4,000 people. Deji hahahah! I’d knock you out in two rounds, and you can barely catch the scent of Mike Tyson’s toe.

In a crowd of 4,000 spectators, Deji landed a punch that left me seeing stars. He’s laughing it up now, but if we were to step into the ring, I’d have him down in just two rounds. I wouldn’t even need to get close enough to Mike Tyson to catch a whiff of his toe, let alone take a hit from him.

Boxing fans react to idea of Paul vs. Mayweather fight

Even though Floyd Mayweather hung up his gloves in 2017 with a perfect 50-win streak, his comments regarding Logan Paul sparked such enthusiasm among fans that they yearned to see him fight again.

“Okay this needs to happen now,” commented one under Paul’s X post.

“MAKE THIS FIGHT,” said another.

A number of boxing enthusiasts expressed their views on who they believe would emerge victorious if Paul and Mayweather squared off in a match.

One person stated without hesitation, “I firmly believe that Jake Paul will land an overhand right on Mayweather, potentially propelling him back into retirement.

Jake could beat Mayweather, and I’m not just saying that; there are valid reasons for the weight classes,” said another.

A third person chimed in, “On his best day, Jake Paul wouldn’t stand a chance against Mayweather… The only reason he was able to win against ‘grandpa’ Tyson is because he allowed it.

Although fans are eager for a match between Paul and Mayweather, nothing has been definitively arranged. However, Paul has been actively seeking out other opponents. It was recently announced that he would be fighting Canelo Álvarez, but this bout was later called off when Álvarez opted to fight another opponent instead.
