As a devoted gamer, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming blockbuster video game adaptation is none other than “A Minecraft Movie,” hitting theaters this coming April! Recently, a fresh trailer for this game-to-film venture has been unveiled, offering the most compelling sneak peek we’ve had yet.
This fresh trailer offers glimpses into the plot, as well as some absurd antics such as Jason Momoa’s figure engaging in a fight against an unusual foe – a chicken. Additionally, we are introduced to Jennifer Coolidge’s character for the first time, and we can expect even more hilarious moments involving Jack Black’s character, Steve. Furthermore, this trailer showcases our main antagonists who originate from the Nether, a realm reminiscent of hell populated by aggressive creatures. The ruler of the Nether, particularly the Piglin, is Malgosha, a character voiced by Rachel House (Moana, Hunt for the Wilderpeople).
In the trailer, there are numerous Minecraft-themed hidden gems as well. Take a look at the trailer on your own and see if you can find them!
Moreover, you can now purchase tickets for a Minecraft Movie, and if you buy one through Fandango (in the US), you’ll receive an in-game jetpack for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Similarly, international fans will find comparable chances to secure in-game content from their local ticket vendors.
Moreover, Mattel has unveiled a line of toys inspired by an upcoming Minecraft film, which includes action figures of Jack Black.
As a devoted admirer, I can share that Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Hansen are part of an extraordinary cast gracing the screen in A Minecraft Movie. The captivating trailer is rhythmically synchronized with MGMT’s song “Time To Pretend,” a melody encapsulating the spirit of youth, freedom, and dreams. However, the trailer cleverly omits the line, “We’ll choke on our vomit and that will be the end,” offering a more optimistic outlook for this digital adventure.
Jared Hess, who was nominated for an Oscar and is known for directing movies like “Nacho Libre” and “Napoleon Dynamite”, took charge of the film production. Some team members from Minecraft’s creators, Mojang, contributed as producers.
Prior to the arrival of Hess, Rob McElhenney, from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, had been assigned to direct the Minecraft movie. Warner Bros. agreed to provide him with $150 million for production, but after a change in leadership at Warner Bros., the new administration rejected McElhenney’s project. Earlier, Shawn Levy, known for his work on Deadpool and Wolverine, had been attached to the project, proposing a Goonies-esque adventure film. However, Mojang didn’t approve of the concept, and Levy subsequently moved on.
Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer penned the script for “A Minecraft Film,” which is slated to hit theaters on April 4, 2025. However, it’s not the only video game adaptation hitting screens that month, as Sony’s “Until Dawn” movie premieres on April 25.
