In the latest installment of the Pokemon Legends series, the Z-A Starter Pokemon have been unveiled, providing ample opportunity for you to pick which adorable starter Pokemon will accompany you on your initial journey. This upcoming game will introduce a fresh group of Pokemon from previous generations, but who are the options this time around?
Who Are the Pokemon Legends Z-A Starters?
In Pokemon Legends Z-A, it’s confirmed that Totodile, Chikorita, and Tepig are the chosen starting Pokemon. Here’s a brief overview of these exciting new starters:
* Totodile is a water-type Pokemon with a playful and mischievous personality. It can use powerful Water Gun attacks to defeat its foes.
* Chikorita, on the other hand, is a grass-type Pokemon that is gentle and caring by nature. It uses Razor Leaf and Vine Whip to take down opponents.
* Lastly, Tepig is a fire-type Pokemon with a fiery spirit and a love for BBQ. Its signature moves include Ember and Flame Charge.
Totodile (Water) – Generation II
- Evolves into Croconaw (Water) at level 18
- Evolves into Feraligatr (Water) at level 30
Chikorita (Grass Type) – Generation II
- Evolves into Bayleef (Grass) at level 16
- Evolves into Meganium (Grass) at level 32
Tepig (Fire Type) – Generation V
- Evolves into Pignite (Fire/Fighting) at level 17
- Evolves into Emboar (Fire/Fighting) at level 36
Which Starter Should You Choose? Pokemon Legends Z-A
In the Pokemon universe, both Totodile and Chikoria originate from the second generation of games, specifically Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Interestingly, Cyndaquil, who was initially introduced as a starter in Legends Arceus, was part of their trio during the second generation. On a different note, Tepig is a character from the fifth generation of games (Black, Black 2, White, and White 2). He’s one of two starters from Gen V to appear as a starter in the Legends series, with Oshawott being the other.
When it comes to Pokémon types, Totodile and Chikorita only transform into one specific type. On the other hand, Tepig’s final two evolutions are dual-typed, meaning they belong to two categories. If you aim for maximum variety in your Pokémon collection, Tepig could be an excellent pick!
On the other hand, Totodile, which is a water-type Pokémon, has just two vulnerabilities compared to Emboar (Tepig’s final form). However, it’s worth noting that Emboar is vulnerable to four types. Yet, Emboar boasts resistance against six types, and no single type can inflict 4x damage on him.
Meganium is a defensive Pokémon that excels in withstanding attacks rather than dealing them. It may not have impressive special or physical attack capabilities, but it can endure hits and remain active on the battlefield for an extended period, allowing you to strategize your next move. However, keep in mind that Grass-type Pokémons are only highly effective against three types of Pokémon, while they are vulnerable to five. Regardless of which one you choose, always evaluate the Pokemon’s statistics and type carefully before making a decision.
Instead, feel free to leave your starting Pokémon behind and choose any other Pokémon you prefer for your journey. The Legendary Z-A region boasts a variety of Pokémon to capture and develop beyond just the starters.
