Pokemon Legends: Z-A releases late 2025 for Nintendo Switch

On February 27th, we celebrate Pokemon Day, and this year, The Pokemon Company unveiled a trailer for the long-awaited “Pokemon Legends: Z-A“, the next installment in the new Pokemon Legends series. Last year on this same day, the game was first announced during 2024’s Pokemon Day. However, until now, there had been no updates about the title. For the very first time, we got a glimpse of gameplay for “Pokemon Legends: Z-A”, along with a sneak peek at its unique world.

According to the initial announcement, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will take place exclusively within Lumiose City, the biggest urban center in the Kalos region, where Pokemon X and Y for Nintendo 3DS were set. This new game introduces a fresh battle system, brings back the Mega Evolution mechanic from X and Y, and allows for open-ended exploration. Wild Pokemon are now incorporated into the city through designated “Wild Zones”, and the story seems to unfold after the events of X and Y.

The upcoming game, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, is expected to drop in late 2025 based on Western trailers, whereas the Japanese version suggests a fall 2025 release. No information about a possible Switch 2 edition has been provided; the trailer only mentions the original Nintendo Switch.
