Zendaya Joins ‘Shrek 5’ Voice Cast as Shrek’s Daughter

Zendaya is taking her talents to the swamp.

The popular, single-named actor is now part of “Shrek 5,” portraying Felicia – a character who is revealed to be the daughter of Shrek (played by Mike Myers) and Fiona (portrayed by Cameron Diaz).

Studios Universal and DreamWorks, known for creating the animated series set in Far, Far Away, have recently shared a teaser with fresh casting announcements. In this short clip, Shrek’s loyal companion Donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy) poses a question to the Magic Mirror: “Hey there, Magic Mirror, who is the most beautiful among them?

Magic Mirror, you know, the one from “Snow White,” responds: “Why Shrek! Of course.”

However, the Magic Mirror seems to have a modern, 21st century flair, enabling Shrek to don numerous Gen Z-inspired appearances. This causes contrasting responses from Felicia (“Ew, dad!”) and Fiona (“Oh, I like it!”), as Shrek ponders the question of the moment: “Who’s behind this?” Right at that instant, Pinocchio emerges to spin a tall tale about his nose-growing fib, denying any involvement with a firm “Not me!”

This leads to mixed reactions from Felicia (“Ew, dad!”) and Fiona (“Oh, I like it!”), prompting Shrek to question “Who’s responsible for this?” Just as he does, Pinocchio appears to tell a fib about his nose-growing lie, asserting “I didn’t do it!”

The fifth installment of ‘Shrek’ is set to hit theaters on December 23, 2026, marking 25 years since the original animated blockbuster premiered. The movie, which reimagines the concept of Happily Ever After from an ogre’s perspective and his band of unconventional fairy tale characters, was a massive success, earning close to half a billion dollars worldwide and becoming the first-ever animated feature to win an Oscar. Following its release, it spawned three sequels – ‘Shrek 2’ in 2004, ‘Shrek the Third’ in 2007, and ‘Shrek Forever After’ in 2010 – as well as a spinoff series centered around ‘Puss in Boots’.

In the upcoming fifth “Shrek” movie, Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon, both experienced in this franchise, are taking on the directorial roles. Previously, Dohrn contributed as a writer and artist in the second and third “Shrek” films, served as head of story and provided the voice for Rumpelstilskin in the fourth movie. On the other hand, Vernon directed the second installment and lends his voice to the character Gingerbread Man.

Zendaya, who won an Emmy for “Euphoria,” has a packed schedule ahead. She’ll be part of Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film “The Odyssey,” the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland, and season 3 of “Euphoria.” Her recent work includes the tennis love triangle drama “Challengers” directed by Luca Guadagnino and “Dune: Part Two,” a sci-fi sequel helmed by Denis Villeneuve.
