Players of Pokémon Legends: Arceus have, at long last, been given a peek at the starter Pokémons for the fresh region, and the selections have left everyone in a state of shock.
In Pokemon Legends: ZA, gamers are transported to the Kalos region, which was first introduced in X and Y. However, unlike the original Gen 6 games where Fennekin, Froakie, and Chespin were the initial choices for player companions, things have changed significantly in this new title.

Pokemon Legends: ZA unveils new starter picks
As per the recent announcement, the starting Pokemon for Pokemon Legends: ZA are Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile.
Chikorita and Totodile, who are Grass and Water-types respectively, hail from the Johto region, while Tepig, a Fire-type, is a starter Pokémon from Unova. Interestingly, despite its popularity, Totodile hasn’t been highlighted much in recent games. It’s also speculated that these starters might receive Mega Evolutions.
In the latest preview, we get a glimpse of characters engaging in gameplay across the Lumiose world map. Interestingly, it appears that players will fight alongside each character rather than encountering regional forms of the stars. For now, it seems that the scenario is set in contemporary Kalos, not a historical version such as the one depicted by Arceus.
