Riot Games Rolls Back Some Unpopular League Of Legends Decisions

Since 2009, League of Legends by Riot Games has garnered a global following, and when these passionate fans aren’t satisfied, they make their voices heard. Lately, some actions taken by Riot, like the elimination of Hextech chests, have sparked such strong reactions from players that the company is now reconsidering those decisions, along with several other contentious changes.

In the aforementioned video and on Riot’s official site, Senior Vice President Andrei Van Roon, alongside League of Legends executive producer Paul Bellezza, clarified their decision to retract previous choices. According to Bellezza, these actions had chipped away at the faith that fans held in Riot, and they are determined to address this issue.

Rebuilding trust begins with the upcoming weekly update, where Hextech chests will be reintroduced into the game. For free, you’ll have access to eight of these chests via the seasonal pass. Additionally, by being a cooperative player and showing good sportsmanship, you can earn an extra two chests through the game’s Honor system. The developers have mentioned that they are still refining this system, but its purpose is to acknowledge players who work well with their teammates and exhibit respect towards opponents.

The release of the Exalted skin for Mordekaiser in League of Legends has been postponed to ensure the developers can fully realize its central theme. The recent Exalted skins for Sett (Radiant Serpent) and Jinx (Fractured Arcane) have received a lot of negative feedback from players, so Riot Games is planning to invest more time and energy into future Exalted skins to satisfy player expectations.

In an upcoming update for League of Legends, the cost of acquiring champions will be decreased by half using the game’s internal currency, Blue Essence. This adjustment is intended to make it simpler for players to add a wider variety of both new and classic champions to their roster.

This month, Riot Games revealed that they have postponed the large-scale playtest for their League of Legends fighting game, 2XKO, which was initially scheduled for March. Instead, they will conduct a smaller playtest in its place, with plans to build up to a larger test later in the year as they develop their infrastructure. Additionally, League of Legends has introduced Mel Medarda to their roster following her significant role in the second and concluding season of Arcane. A cinematic featuring Mel was also recently released, which seems to depict events that transpire after the series finale of Arcane.
