Monster Hunter Wilds Photo Mode Guide – How To Use Photo Mode During Hunts, Features, and More

In the Monster Hunter Wilds game, unlike its predecessors, there is a special feature called the Photo Mode which you can use during hunts. This new addition is exciting, but Capcom hasn’t demonstrated how to utilize it or showcased its capabilities for single and multiplayer experiences yet. This guide for Monster Hunter Wilds Photo Mode will explain the mode’s features, how to activate it, what settings are available, and our expectations for future updates regarding this feature.

Where is Photo Mode in Monster Hunter Wilds

Normally, you’ll find the Photo Mode tucked away in the final tab within the System Menu, specifically under Options and Keyboard Settings. From there, you can easily activate it both during and outside of gameplay.

Monster Hunter Wilds Photo Mode features

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Photo Mode allows you to manually zoom in and out, momentarily halt gameplay when playing offline or singleplayer mode (not during multiplayer sessions), modify your camera angle, and access a more intricate camera settings menu using L1 or LB buttons. This additional menu offers options to adjust the field of view (camera perspective), rotate the camera, enable depth of field, and focal ratio.

In Monster Hunter Wilds Photo Mode, it may seem like a standard camera mode at first, but by pressing Square (PlayStation) or X (Xbox), you can switch to an interactive view mode that allows you to capture images of your hunter both in and out of combat. Additionally, while in this mode, you can use L1 (PlayStation) or LB (Xbox) to perform gestures or access any Pose Sets you’ve purchased in Monster Hunter Wilds. Be sure to keep an eye on the control prompts in the upper right corner, as they will guide you to additional sub-menus where you can hide the UI, view your photo album, and set a timer for capturing photos after 3 or 10 seconds.

Map photo mode to the radial menu in Monster Hunter Wilds

It would be beneficial to assign the photo mode function to one of the radial menus for quick access, especially during hunting sessions. I personally assigned it to the Communication radial menu for convenience. However, do bear in mind that while using this feature during multiplayer games, you won’t be able to pause, and monsters may still attack you.

Monster Hunter Wilds Photo Mode updates we would like to see

In Monster Hunter Wilds, during photo mode, it’s clear that the larger filters are color options and the capability to apply stickers we’ve earned or bought earlier. To enhance this feature, it would be beneficial to offer additional zoom and focus options, beyond those currently provided.
