The fifth season of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” is set to begin airing. Originally broadcast on NBC, the show has now transitioned to Peacock. On April 17th, the premiere will be made available, with the first two episodes being released at that time. Subsequent new episodes will then be streamed weekly thereafter.
Despite moving from NBC, the series will continue streaming every Thursday – the very same day that “Law & Order” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” are aired on NBC.
The show centers around Christopher Meloni’s character, Detective Elliot Stabler, who now leads the Organized Crime Control Bureau. Alongside him are actors such as Danielle Moné Truitt, Rick Gonzalez, Olivia Thirlby, and Ainsley Seiger. Starting from Season 4, Dean Norris is part of the cast, portraying Stabler’s brother.
Per the official description, “Season 5 explores the dangerous worlds of cross-border smuggling, high-tech domestic terrorism and a crime family intent on repaying Stabler for the injury he did them in Rome. As his worlds collide, Stabler will put everything on the line to protect the vulnerable and fight for justice.”
And as the new poster reads, this season’s tagline is: “In Stabler we trust.”
Mariska Hargitay, who played Olivia Benson alongside Stabler for 13 seasons, expressed her intention to appear in the Peacock series’ crossover during an interview with EbMaster last May.
She mentioned it only yesterday. We had a gathering just last night, where we crossed paths. It was blissful. I met his producer recently. They seem keen on us pairing up, and Chris and I have been discussing this very topic. The moment has come, it’s here and now for us, she expressed at the time. Previously, there had been a considerable gap in our orbits. That’s why we resorted to phone calls and such. But we are thrilled about the prospect of diving back into that sphere, getting back into the game.
This television series, originally developed by Dick Wolf, Ilene Chaiken, and Matt Olmstead, is jointly produced by Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment. Notably, Olmstead takes on the role of the seventh showrunner for this production. Additionally, Dick Wolf, Matt Olmstead, Meloni, John Shiban, Mike Slovis, Peter Jankowski, and Tim Walsh all serve as executive producers.
