Unlock the Secret Destiny 2 Combo Turning Hunters into Boss-Melting Machines!

In Destiny 2‘s Episode Heresy, significant enhancements were made to Lord of Wolves, propelling this Exotic Shotgun to the pinnacle of the Power against Environment (PvE) scene, largely thanks to its extraordinary damage per second (DPS). However, an unforeseen synergy boosts its effectiveness even further for Hunter class players.

Apart from enhancing the distance and basic attack of the weapon themed around The Fallen, Bungie significantly upgraded the built-in ability of Release the Wolves. Now, Lord of Wolves fires automatically, has a faster firing speed, and deals extra damage when used while holding it horizontally.

Videos of entire Fireteams, armed with shotguns, rapidly defeating the Templar boss in Vault of Glass became popular after Heresy launched on February 4. Now, Hunters can take it a step further by combining an apparently unrelated boomstick with a specific Exotic Helmet. At first sight, this combination seems to offer no synergy whatsoever.

Mask of Bakris & Solar Surge

For those not familiar with Mask of Bakris, its Exotic Perk, Light Shift, reads as follows:

When you’re wielding the Stasis Super, your dodge transforms into a longer-range, swiftly moving evasion maneuver that momentarily conceals you. Upon completing this shift, both your Stasis and Arc weapons temporarily increase their damaging capabilities for a brief period.

Although it doesn’t directly refer to Solar energy, the boost for Stasis and Arc weapons, which increases elemental power by four times and provides a 25% damage bonus for 10 seconds, seems to be uniquely effective with Lord of Wolves. However, this enhancement does not appear to work with any other sources of Solar damage at this time.

Mask of Bakris provides Solar Surge despite only listing Stasis and Arc, but only for Lord of Wolves.

At this point, it’s unclear whether the interaction between Mask of Bakris and Lord of Wolves, as observed, is intended but not explicitly stated in Mask of Bakris’ description, or if a glitch is causing this behavior. However, after testing, we can verify that as of patch 8.2.0.2 on February 25th, the combination continues to function properly.
