Following reports of a problem with a Time-Limited Research task within Pokemon Go, Niantic resolved the issue by offering all players 11 complimentary chances to encounter Legendary creatures.
The most recent Pokemon Go event, titled “Road to Unova”, commenced on February 24, 2025. This event also introduced a special Timed Research quest that primarily revolves around raids.
Initially, it was advertised that completing raids would grant 11 distinct chances to encounter Legendary Pokemon. However, players soon found out that the raids weren’t properly contributing to the quest.
Following numerous users airing their grievances on social media platforms, Niantic has addressed the issue by implementing a solution that advantages all players alike.

In a post on X, Niantic Support shared an update regarding the broken Timed Research tasks.
I just wanted to express my gratitude for your understanding, trainers. We’ve managed to sort out the problem that was halting Raid progression leading to Raid-specific Timed Research. Thanks a bunch!
In compensation for this, every Trainer worldwide is getting a complimentary copy of the Road to Unova: Raids Timed Research. If you buy the Road to Unova: Raids ticket, you’ll also receive a free duplicate Premium Timed Research for the same event. These will be automatically completed once received in your account.
Hey there fellow gamers! Just wanted to thank you all for your understanding while we worked on fixing the problem that was halting Raid progressions and connecting to Raid-related Timed Research. To make amends, every Trainer worldwide will receive a free duplicate of the Road to Unova: Raids Timed Research as a token of apology. Now, with this update, fans can enjoy 11 diverse Legendary encounters without needing to win Raid Battles. This also allows them the opportunity to catch Terrakion, Cobalion, Virizion, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, and all five types of Genesect.
Enthusiasts swarmed the comment section to express their gratitude, with numerous individuals surprised to discover that Niantic had autocompleted the research.
One user remarked this morning, ‘I was delightfully bewildered seeing all the finished raids.’
