As a content creator on Twitch, I found myself overwhelmed by the recent backlash surrounding a viral clip from my stream. In the heat of the moment, I couldn’t help but break down in tears during one of my broadcasts, contemplating if it was all worth it and considering stepping away from my career.
On February 22, 2025, well-known Twitch streamer and OTK member ExtraEmily was talking on the phone during which it seemed like she mentioned fellow caster Nick ‘nmplol’ Polom among the streamers she has collaborated with.
Nevertheless, some people perceived Emily’s utterance, “Nick, uh…”, as a different phrase altogether, leading to a passionate discussion online. Some supporters stood by Emily, while others alleged that she had used a derogatory term, causing controversy.
Emily further clarified the situation via a series of witty tweets, pointing out that she had merely said “Nick, uh” – however, the discussion continued, leading her to contemplate leaving her profession due to the ensuing criticism.
Wow, with 13 million views on this? I just can’t keep quiet about it! I said “Nick Uh” and called my friend the wrong name… I hardly ever use that word in my life!!! This app is really something else, man.

ExtraEmily breaks down in tears considering quitting streaming
On February 25, she candidly shared details about the difficult experience, emotionally disclosing that at times, she had contemplated leaving streaming altogether.
She clarified that the situation was truly unfortunate and she didn’t understand why it transpired. It was indeed awful. She seemed puzzled, wondering if she had gone ‘viral’, but regrettably, it appeared to be for negative reasons only. She couldn’t seem to find a solution or a way to go ‘viral’ for positive events instead.
Pondering over what other activities I’d engage in if not streaming, I broach the subject with my mom. She suggests I pursue an MBA and return to work, but I find that idea unappealing.
Each moment my mind wandered, I found myself drawn back to the realm of streaming. This section of the web seems inescapable for now. Frankly, there’s nothing else I yearn to engage with, so I must persevere. There are challenging periods ahead, but we’ll press forward.

Apart from Emily’s statement, it is indicated that she considers taking legal action against the creator of the viral clip on X as an unnecessary expenditure of resources, referring to it as an unproductive use of both time and money.
Emily’s emotional live stream received plenty of backing from viewers, who motivated her to carry on broadcasting, disregarding the unfavorable response towards the video segment in question.
The most recent update originates from an OTK streamer, following Asmongold’s disclosure that he had parted ways with the group several months ago, having relinquished his leadership roles within the organization earlier on.
