The Sims 4 Update Adds Burglars Back To The Series

In an exciting development, Electronic Arts (EA) and Maxis have added a burglar character to The Sims 4 in a recent update that’s now live across all platforms. This burglar addition to The Sims 4 doesn’t require purchase of the new Businesses and Hobbies expansion pack. Instead, it’s a complimentary upgrade for the base game, offering unique interactions if you own specific other expansions.

In earlier versions of The Sims (The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims 3), Maxis introduced a character type called a burglar. However, this character was not present in The Sims 4 until recently. The new version of this character is named Robin Banks, who operates similarly to the original burglar. There’s a small probability that Robin will show up on your residential or commercial property at night. If she does, she might make off with items that aren’t fixed to the building, such as windows, lights, or plants like shrubbery. The update also introduces a new challenge for lots called Heist Havoc, which increases the chances of Robin making an appearance.

In case of a burglary, Sims could potentially wake up, apprehend Robin, and dial the police before she escapes with their possessions. However, it’s not certain that the police will arrive prior to Robin’s escape. Maxis advises that the most reliable way to prevent a burglar is by installing an alarm system, which immediately notifies the authorities upon Robin entering the property. Handy Sims can enhance their alarms to minimize breakdowns or even customize it to deliver an electric shock and incapacitate the burglar. Alternatively, if your Sim prefers physical confrontation, they could challenge Robin, but there’s a risk of losing the fight if they aren’t in good shape.

Several additional packs for The Sims 4 feature exclusive interactions for the burglar character named Robin. For instance, if you possess the Cats and Dogs expansion and have a pet dog in your home, they may chase Robin away. Vampire Sims from the Vampires pack can transform Robin into their thrall and instruct her to depart, while scientists from the Get to Work expansion can utilize a freezing ray to halt Robin’s progress. In the Cottage Living pack, non-player characters like Agnes Crumplebottom will have unique ways of dealing with Robin.

In the end, Maxis noted that The Sims 4 handles Robin similar to other unique NPCs. It’s possible to become friends with her and even invite her to live with your family. If she were to move in or pass away, a new, ordinary burglar would appear to carry on her criminal activities.
