New Star Wars Game Seemingly Unaffected By Major NetEase Shakeup

It seems that despite the recent upheaval at NetEase, the development studio responsible for creating Star Wars Eclipse, Quantic Dream, has reportedly remained unscathed.

Guillaume de Fondaumière, the CEO of Quantic Dream, clarified on LinkedIn that their studios based in Paris and Montreal will not be impacted. They are moving forward with all their projects as planned, and there are numerous job openings in both cities for those interested.

Recently, NetEase dismissed the American staff members who were working on Marvel Rivals. It has been reported that NetEase might be selling off its studios outside China, although they have publicly stated their continued support for their international developers. Interestingly, Rebel Wolves Studio, which created Blood of Dawnwalker, claims to remain unaffected by these layoffs.

Quantic Dream is recognized for creating story-driven video games like Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human. In 2022, Quantic Dream was acquired by NetEase. David Fondaumière announced that the company reached its highest revenue yet in 2024, mainly due to sales of its older titles. Notably, Detroit: Become Human sold over 11 million copies worldwide just last year.

He stated that our ongoing projects are advancing according to schedule, and we’re dedicated to unveiling and releasing these groundbreaking, top-notch creations in due time.

2021 saw the initial unveiling of Star Wars Eclipse, which is slated for a 2026 release. This game is set in the timeframe known as the High Republic era. The teaser trailer presented Yoda glancing out at Coruscant from within the Jedi Council chamber.
