As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve always been intrigued by the Landry family saga, particularly the elusive figure of matriarch Del who’s yet to dip her toes in time travel. However, the latest clue for The Way Home Season Episode 9 has me thinking that Del might be stepping into the time machine soon!
As a devoted admirer, I’d say that Del, with her intricate life story, finds herself in an even more entangled web than she understands. In The Way Home Season 3, we witness Del’s arrival in Port Haven back in 1974, where fate brings her face-to-face with the man who would later become her husband, Colton, and sparks a love that unfolds instantly.
In time, she struggles with the mysterious vanishing of her son, Jacob, and then endures the tragic death of Colton in a traffic accident barely a year afterwards. Yet, when the unexpected occurs – Jacob reappears at home in Season 3’s premiere, having lived unknowingly in the 1800s after falling into a pond and somehow time-traveling.
Could it be possible that Del’s less-than-friendly attitude towards the pond usage might shift in The Way Home Season 3 Episode 9?
The Way Home Season 3 Episode 9’s synopsis proves Del might use the pond
In simpler terms, The summary for ‘The Way Home Season 3 Episode 9,’ titled ‘Too Late To Turn Back Now,’ indicates that the Landry women are dealing with their past mistakes and wish they could understand Colton’s thoughts better. It also hints that there may be secrets hidden from them, even by Jacob. If interpreted literally, this might suggest a change in Del’s feelings regarding the pond.
Beyond the obvious reason that her past is too distressing to relive, we’re yet to fully grasp why Del strongly dislikes time travel. Her history of hardship certainly justifies this apprehension, but many aspects of her feelings towards time travel remain unexplored.
It makes sense that diving into the pond would likely yield those answers, but Del has consistently expressed disdain for it over the years. She’s even had disagreements with Kat and Alice regarding its usage, imploring them repeatedly to let go of the past.

The Way Home’s most controversial character is possibly still alive
In Episode 8, there was a shift in her feelings. Although she still harbors much of her anger, she’s also becoming aware that she requires answers she currently lacks. Del has been spending an unprecedented amount of time by the pond, and in the final scene, he seems to envision grown-up Colton asking a crucial question: “Did you know all along that Jacob was alive?
It’s plausible that this is the case. The seventh episode hinted at teen Colton visiting Jacob in the year 1814, as shown in one of Susanna’s drawings. We learned more about this backstory in the eighth episode, where it was additionally revealed that Colton rescued Jacob from a fire in 1816.
It’s not clear at this point, but if teen Colton isn’t from the future (which is a different hypothesis, so stay tuned), he would have been aware that Jacob was alive throughout his entire adult life with Del. His death and mourning don’t add up convincingly, hinting there might be more to the story.
In other words, the events unfolding in The Way Home Season 3 Episode 9 could either reveal the most significant betrayal within a fictional marriage or introduce an unexpected twist set in the future. Regardless, it seems that Del is about to dig deep into the heart of the issue.
