In the debut of Suits LA, we meet Eddie, Ted’s affectionate and attractive brother, who assists him at home. But buckle up, as an unexpected turn of events unfolds – a twist that surpasses any shocking maneuver the series has attempted before.

In Episode 1 of “Suits,” there’s an abundance of action. By the end of the episode, Stuart turns against Ted by executing a merger that splits Black Lane in two, Mike decides to work for the opposition instead of the firm, Erica takes charge of entertainment division, and Ted consents to represent a producer who could potentially be a murder suspect regarding their partner.

During their more tranquil times together, there’s a touching interplay between Ted and his younger brother Eddie. Despite being a busy individual, Ted takes moments of relaxation whenever Eddie is around (occasionally whipping up pancakes for him and assisting him to bed when he staggers home inebriated).

These parts of the story have been designed to give you a feeling of safety, but beware, things take an unexpected turn near the conclusion.

Eddie is actually dead in Suits LA

In a surprising turn of events for the series, “Suits” LA boasts the most extraordinary plot twist – Eddie has perished, leaving only memories of him as a cherished brother to provide solace for Ted.

Essentially, Eddie is depicted as deceased throughout the series, except for a fleeting scene in Episode 1 set in 1993. Neither Ted receives help getting to bed nor anyone prepares breakfast for him – these are merely imaginary interactions with Eddie that he conjures up. However, it’s important to note that Eddie is not physically present.

It’s unlikely that this is similar to the movie “Sixth Sense,” where a character interacts with the supernatural. Instead, it seems more like Ted often imagines or hallucinates seeing his deceased brother while he’s at home, due to his deep longing and emotional connection.

Another interpretation might be that Ted’s actions are a reflection of his guilt; we know his father played a role in Eddie’s demise, and perhaps Ted could have acted differently to prevent it. A fitting parallel can be drawn between Butcher’s encounter with Joe Kessler in The Boys Season 4 (without the parasitic growth, naturally).

Suits LA creator explains Eddie twist

In a chat with TV Line, creator of Suits, Aaron Korsh, revealed insights about the plot twist. “He might not be explicitly tormenting [Eddie], but in a sense, he’s offering assistance,” said Korsh.

Occasionally, Eddie appears and disappears. In some flashback sequences, Eddie is portrayed as a living, breathing character, not a ghost. To clarify, Eddie’s appearances in these scenes represent his physical existence in the past, rather than his spirit. As for the present day, I perceive Eddie more as Ted’s subconscious manifestation, communicating with him.

In essence, Eddie is typically seen as a symbol of forgiveness in my mind. This is more of Ted’s tender, less recognized side. So, Eddie prompts him to consider forgiving his father, or perhaps Stuart, depending on the situation. He appears at times during the season in the present day, and also in some instances, during flashbacks throughout the season.

In this role, Eddie is skillfully portrayed by Carson A. Egan, marking a significant accomplishment in the actor’s career as it represents his debut screen credit.
