Jessica Holscott, an experienced professional from Warner corporations like HBO, has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Nielsen. She will be supervised by the company’s current CEO, Karthik Rao.
Jessica is an accomplished, top-tier financial expert, and it’s a great privilege to welcome her to Nielsen during such a crucial period,” stated Rao in a prearranged statement. “In the past year, we’ve launched numerous groundbreaking products for our clients, solidifying our position as the pioneer in TV ratings and streaming TV statistics. As we move forward with more innovative advancements and additional sophisticated ad technology solutions, Jessica’s strategic insight and background will be vital for our future development.
Holscott will be responsible for managing Nielsen’s global financial operations, which encompasses tasks like strategic financial planning, budgeting, tax matters, accounting, internal audits, and treasury functions.
In this role, Holscott will be in charge of ensuring the financial health and stability of Nielsen on a global scale.
She’s taking up a position at Nielsen, a company currently navigating significant transformations within its core industry – audience measurement for media. Major clients like Paramount Global have criticized Nielsen for being slow in adapting to the shifting landscape of streaming services. To address this issue, Nielsen has recently integrated first-hand data, including data from connected TV devices and out-of-home viewership, into its technology.
More recently, Holscott held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Spotter, a company that specializes in content creation. Previously, she served as both CFO and Executive Vice President for Warner Media, overseeing all financial matters, and also held the same positions at HBO. Additionally, she took on the role of Head of Investor Relations for Time Warner. Her career started at General Electric, where she climbed the ladder from corporate auditing to becoming Chief of Staff to the Vice Chairman and CFO.
Holscott expressed his pride in joining Nielsen as Chief Financial Officer, particularly during a period of significant change for both the company and the industry. In a statement, he stated, ‘Nielsen consistently sets new standards for innovation, and I’m eager to collaborate with Karthik and my fellow executives to maintain this forward momentum, solidifying Nielsen’s position as a trailblazer in audience measurement.’
Holscott takes over from Warren Jenson, who retires in August 2024. Meanwhile, Cindy Fernandez, serving as the interim Chief Financial Officer, will continue her role within the company.
