Unbelievable! Pokemon TCG Player Wins $25,000 in Just One Insane Turn!

At the 2025 Europe International Pokemon Trading Card Game Championship, a skilled player clinched the staggering $25,000 grand prize after triumphing in their last game in just one turn.

2025 Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) Europe International Championships, where players gathered across the continent, have concluded. The excitement was palpable as participants battled fiercely and aimed to secure a spot in this season’s global championships.

Although designed for children, the Pokémon Trading Card Game generates its share of excitement due to some cards becoming extremely valuable, leading to various Pokémon-related illegal activities. Additionally, heated disputes arise at gaming tables over instances of high-level cheating and contentious referee decisions.

Although it has its flaws, this pastime can still offer uniquely thrilling experiences, as evidenced by the 2025 Pokemon TCG Europe International Championships. In a stunning move, renowned player Ryuki Okada clinched a $25,000 prize in a single turn with an astounding opening combination that left everyone speechless.

Pokemon TCG’s Poison mechanic secures turn-one tournament win

As a dedicated Pokémon TCG enthusiast, I’ve come across the term ‘donk’ – it’s not a common occurrence, but it sure is exciting! A ‘donk’, or Turn One Win, happens under very specific conditions that are quite challenging to set up. Normally, winning a game involves knocking out enough Pokémon to secure six Prize Cards. However, if you manage to clear the board of all opposing Pokémon during your opening turn, you’ve just pulled off a ‘donk’, leaving your opponent with no chance to play their strategy. It’s a unique and thrilling way to start a game!

In an auspicious turn of events, it was advantageous for Okada as Natalie Miller’s opening hand only contained a basic Pokemon. It might seem like Miller’s solitary Dreepy would escape harm during the initial round of the game, considering players cannot attack on their first move.

Unfortunately for them, Okada had one of the rare decks that could bypass that restriction. Starting off with an Oranguru V whose Back order ability lets its trainer search for two Tool cards, Okada drew Forest Seal Stone to find Precious Trolley; a card that allows him to stock his bench with any basic Pokemon he desires.

Okada opts for Brute Bonnet, Radiant Hisuian Sneasler, Pecharunt, and Latias EX as his chosen Pokémon. When he uses a second Tool that Oranguru V provides, Okada can poison not just one but both active Pokémons. Normally, the Poison effect inflicts 10 damage at the end of each turn; however, a synergy between Hisuian Sneasler and Pecharunt increases this to a staggering 80. Consequently, Miller’s lone 70 HP Dreepy was swiftly defeated in a single turn before more Pokémons could even be played.

In Okada’s deck, the turn-one KO (knockout) wasn’t the main strategy, but under some uncommon conditions, it resulted in a quick win during the tournament final. If we overlook the two days of play preceding this moment, it was possibly the least challenging $25,000 ever earned through playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG).
