Last time, I found myself tagging along as Elizabeth and Nathan delved deep undercover, seeking intel from Toddy Davis – a notorious crook linked to the Great Train Heist. Now, it seems Nathan’s back in his element, driving the investigation home, while Elizabeth is free to advance her fresh educational program without a hitch.

Rosemary finds herself juggling numerous tasks as she embarks on the challenge of staging a local production of “The Importance of Being Earnest.” However, her plans are abruptly halted when an unfortunate event unfolds in the 8th episode of When Calls the Heart’s 12th season. Currently, Rosemary hasn’t yet extended an invitation to Ava to be part of the play’s cast. Rosemary explains that she’s holding off, waiting for what she considers the perfect timing.

He bluntly tells Randall that the Daily Dialogue, their current show, is dull and losing listeners to programs that arguably shouldn’t be challenging it in the first place.

During the rush of the situation, Rosemary proposes reimagining The Importance of Being Earnest as a radio play, an idea that Roland finds appealing. With plans to broadcast it the following day, this sudden development leaves Rosemary in a state of worry. Meanwhile, Nathan informs Bill about the details Toddy shared at the party, and they are already making progress on locating the deceased rancher Toddy mentioned sourcing his stock from.

At a gathering discussing the issue of cattle crossing, Lucas introduces Allie and Olivier. The attendees are hesitant to make changes since their current approach seems effective for them. However, an elderly gentleman named McGinty appears dismissive towards Allie’s ideas. Yet, Allie identifies this man as the one who was cutting down trees in the forest when she and her team first inspected the stream.

All the men choose not to vote on any proposed modifications, and Edie announced on behalf of the Cattlemen’s Association that they reject the proposal.

Illness strikes Hope Valley

When Lucas chases after Edie, she remembers telling him to let it go. Lucas accuses her of being aware that McGinty would manipulate the situation, to which Edie responds that she was simply performing her duties. “Any future conversations should be addressed through my department,” she says as she departs.

At the old schoolhouse, Rosemary shares the news of the radio change with us gamers. We’re all a bit apprehensive yet excited, especially at the prospect of reading directly from the script. Mike, coughing as he rehearses, asks Mei if he should mention his scratchy throat. “Absolutely,” Mei replies, “You should visit the hot springs to clear your voice up.” Mike agrees, ready to take her advice.

He’ll stumble eventually. What truly matters is you allow him the space to do so.

Fiona informs Faith that the salon sale was finalized and she needs to return to San Francisco to prepare for her wedding. Faith doubts Fiona’s feelings towards her fiancé, but Fiona is certain she can pursue what she values by going ahead with it. In turn, Fiona invites Faith to be her bridesmaid.

In an unexpected turn of events, Nathan and I find myself being questioned – yes, it’s me, Edie. I express my bewilderment, as I was merely aware that my dear uncle was struggling financially. Now, I find myself bearing this heavy responsibility. They hint at a link to the Train Robbery, causing me to softly lament, “Ernie, oh Ernie… What on earth have you dragged us into this time?

Fiona leaves town for a new adventure

It turns out our unidentified person goes by Woody, and he’s planning on giving Sonny a call to let them know everything is good to go. As Molly happens to listen in, she picks up on his scheme to slip Sonny into the saloon’s upper level through the balcony. Allie shares with Elizabeth that she’s never felt so enthusiastic about school before, thanks to the recent changes in the curriculum.

The following day, Mike finds himself down with laryngitis, which displeases Rosemary. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse; both Bill and Lee also fall sick. It appears they all contracted Mike’s cold after their visit to the hot springs, making it highly contagious.

The answer? A female-only cast. Over tea, Minnie casually mentions that she knows every line of Jack’s, hinting at her familiarity with the script. Rosemary’s character as Algernon seems spot on. Fiona, the feminist she is, quickly endorses the idea.

Mei steps into Mike’s position, and at last, Ava has her chance as Gwendoline. As they put on their show, the boys tune in to listen. Later, Nathan gifts flowers to Elizabeth, along with a stack of letters from Ned. Everyone is on board with Elizabeth’s educational plan, appreciating its advantages right away.

In a less-than-pleased state, Edie drops by Lucas’ office to discuss some unresolved issues. She reveals that McGinty has manipulated the situation years ago, deceiving other ranchers into agreeing to loans on their cattle lands. This gives McGinty the power to demand repayment and interest at any point in time, and any votes opposing him could potentially expose this practice.

Edie admits that she’s also attempting to shield his image from harm. Elizabeth presents the letters to Fiona, aiming to sway her opinion. Later on, she shares the letters with Roland, revealing that both the Daily Dialogue and the play have garnered much success.

He’s aiming for a grander plan, urging them to code for a larger broadcasting station in Port Townsend. However, Rosemary is hesitant about relocating from Hope Valley, but Fiona eagerly accepts the opportunity. The town bids her farewell, and it becomes clear that she’s ended her engagement. Elizabeth responds to her letters via radio, discussing other creative concepts over the airwaves.
