Keanu Reeves ‘Recently’ Pitched ‘Constantine 2’ to DC After Trying to Make the Sequel for ‘Over a Decade’: ‘We’re Going to Try and Write a Script’

Keanu Reeves is excited about the possibility of donning John Constantine’s iconic trench coat and tie once more. Almost two decades since he initially embodied this DC Comics/Vertigo character in Francis Lawrence’s 2005 film “Constantine,” Reeves hints that a long-awaited “Constantine 2” may be on the horizon.

Despite expressing his desire for a “Constantine” sequel since 2019, Reeves now believes the script for “Constantine 2” is ready: “We’ve been striving to create this movie for over a decade, and we just recently came up with a story and presented it to DC Studios. They agreed, so we’re going to attempt writing the script.

Reeves remained tight-lipped about particulars of the plot, but he revealed that his and Lawrence’s concept for a “Constantine” follow-up will unfold in the same gloomy setting as the initial film. He assured it won’t deviate from this, and hinted at increased torment for the occultist: “John Constantine is going to endure even greater suffering.

During a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Reeves and Francis reminisced about Constantine’s 20th anniversary, the movie’s impact, and potential future scripts. “It’s enjoyable to be in the same place and chat about ‘Constantine,'” Reeves remarked.
