The praise for this movie is well-deserved; it fully embraces its science-fiction roots. Andy Weir’s original novel was meticulously researched, and the film maintains that commitment to scientific accuracy – from the astrophage to the details of space travel. Importantly, the filmmakers didn’t simplify any of that for a wider audience. Rocky is fantastic, and Gosling delivers a strong performance. However, while Project Hail Mary is successful, it’s not the first, nor the best, film to combine realistic science with a compelling survival story. Many other movies have explored similar themes with more originality or boldness. Here are ten examples.

Richard Marin, known as Cheech, and Tommy Chong are a famous comedy duo best known for their films about marijuana culture. Another well-known comedic pair, Jay Mewes and Kevin Smith’s character Silent Bob, frequently appear together in Smith’s movies like Clerks, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. It’s been almost two decades since the last Alien vs. Predator film, but both the Alien and Predator series are experiencing a resurgence with recent, more grounded installments. Now, early signs suggest that audiences might be open to another Alien vs. Predator movie – either as a sequel or a fresh reboot of the first two films.

Monster movies made a comeback in the 1990s, and the decade delivered some notable films. Like many horror movies from that era, these monster films were incredibly diverse – some felt like classic retreads, while others were truly innovative.

Over four seasons and 40 episodes, the show subtly became one of the most emotionally powerful dramas on TV. By the time it ended in October 2017, it had moved beyond a typical story about flawed heroes to become a moving look at what drives us, how we cope with setbacks, and the importance of human connection. As a huge fan of The X-Files, I always loved how they weren’t afraid to play with other shows! Seeing Mulder and Scully get the cartoon treatment on The Simpsons was hilarious, and the episode they did with Cops is still a favorite among fans. But honestly, one of the coolest things was the crossover with another series created by Chris Carter – it actually gave that show a satisfying conclusion. It’s a shame Chris didn’t have a ton of other hits; Harsh Realm didn’t last long, and neither did The Lone Gunmen, the first X-Files spin-off. His most successful show besides The X-Files was definitely Millennium. It ran for three seasons and really felt like a companion series, even though it kind of faded from view over time. They originally wanted to keep Millennium completely separate, but then they did this incredible crossover that brought everything together!

According to FlixPatrol, the classic series Charlie’s Angels is now fourth most popular on the Apple TV Store in the US. Although Firefly remains at the top, Charlie’s Angels quickly climbed the charts – starting at number eleven on April 9th – and has already passed shows like Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Mad Men to reach the number four spot.
