Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Site Is Counting Down To An Announcement

This week saw Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 receiving an update hinting at the comeback of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. In a skate park map titled ‘The Grind’, a banner with the THPS logo and the date “03.04.25” is displayed. Interestingly, the official Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater website now shows a countdown clock leading up to March 4, 2025. This suggests that we might be on the brink of an announcement.

Back in September 1999, Activision launched the initial Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game. Even though its 25th anniversary has passed, Tony Hawk disclosed last year that he had been in touch with Activision regarding plans to commemorate the significant 25-year mark. Recently, Hawk announced that the ongoing franchise will persist.

If news about the upcoming direction for THPS is imminent, we might see two possible scenarios unfold. The first possibility leans towards another remake similar to Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 from 2020, which rekindled enthusiasm for the game series. It has been speculated that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 could be next in line. Yet, a more intriguing possibility is the release of an entirely new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater title. The last original game in this series to make its way onto consoles was Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 back in 2015. Furthermore, there was a previous rumor suggesting that the next Tony Hawk game could drop as early as this summer. Given the proximity of the announcement, such a timeline appears quite likely.

Previously, Bobby Kotick, former CEO of Activision Blizzard, mentioned that Tony Hawk resided in his car during negotiations for the initial Pro Skater game. Today, it’s clear that Hawk has upgraded his living situation, but we’re excited to witness the direction that the video game series might take with the enhanced capabilities of modern gaming consoles.
