Split Fiction’s Friend’s Pass will now be cross-platform

In an exciting development for the upcoming game “Split Fiction,” developed by the creators of 2021’s Game of the Year, “It Takes Two,” there has been a notable adjustment to its Friend’s Pass function. Games from Hazelight Studios, such as “Split Fiction” and “It Takes Two,” are designed for cooperative play between two players. Without another player, these games cannot be played. The Friend’s Pass feature was introduced to accommodate this need, allowing a friend to join in even if they haven’t purchased the game. For “Split Fiction”, this cross-platform functionality is being implemented for the Friend’s Pass. This means that regardless of the platform you or your friend use (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X|S), you can still play together using the Friend’s Pass.

Split Fiction’s Friend’s Pass feature will allow players to cooperate across platforms

As a gamer, I can hardly contain my excitement! In just a few weeks, on March 6th, the highly anticipated “Split Fiction” is set to drop. Following the monumental success of last year’s “It Takes Two,” this game has been generating immense buzz.

What makes it even more intriguing is the cross-platform play feature, as stated on their FAQ page. This means that even if my friends and I are using different gaming platforms, we won’t miss out on the cooperative experience that “Split Fiction” promises. For instance, if I’m playing on Xbox Series S/X, I can invite a friend who’s on a PC or PlayStation 5 to join me in this adventure!

This is a groundbreaking step, as for the previous game from Hazelight Studios, “It Takes Two,” cross-platform play wasn’t an option. But with “Split Fiction,” they’ve raised the bar, making it possible for gamers like us to join forces regardless of our preferred platforms. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one!

Notably, the Friend’s Pass isn’t just for a single use by a friend; instead, it allows you to play Split Fiction with multiple different friends, albeit one at a time. Moreover, when you download the Friend’s Pass, it comes with a complimentary trial version of the game that covers the initial stages. Any advancements you make during this trial will be preserved if you decide to purchase the full game. However, it’s worth mentioning that for crossplay functionality, both players must have an EA account connected to their respective platforms.

Since the popular game “It Takes Two” has been winning numerous awards and still selling well, it’s not surprising that “Split Fiction,” another co-op game from the same studio, is generating a lot of interest. It’s thrilling to know that “Split Fiction” will be released in just a few weeks, and it’s impressive to see a studio with such a distinct vision for cooperative games achieving success. The director, Josef Fares, has even promised not to create a live-service game filled with microtransactions. For the time being, we’ll have to wait until March 6th to see how both fans and critics respond to “Split Fiction” when it officially launches.
