Passenger Anoints Plane with Holy Water Amid Fears of Crashes

A JetBlue traveler received recognition for attempting to safeguard the plane using holy water, following a rise in airplane accidents in both the U.S. and Canada.

Social media influencer Desiree Salter gained widespread attention last February when she shared a video of herself sprinkling holy water outside an airplane and marking it with a cross prior to its departure. This clip amassed more than 5 million views online.

She titled her TikTok post “Praying in Jesus’ name…Amen!” Salter was piloting JetBlue at that moment. Although JetBlue hasn’t experienced any recent flight problems, there’s been an increase over several months in airplane crashes during flights and upon landing.

On the 17th of February, a Delta aircraft experienced a flip upon landing in Toronto, Canada. Miraculously, all on board survived, but at least 21 people sustained injuries. In an extraordinary gesture, each of the 76 passengers were given a compensation of $30,000 without any conditions attached.

In the skies over southern Arizona, tragically, two individuals lost their lives a couple of days after a crash involving two compact aircraft colliding in flight.

Significantly, on January 29, every person aboard an American Airlines flight tragically lost their lives when it unfortunately collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter, causing the death of its crew as well. This unfortunate incident occurred just before the plane was set to touch down at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

7 individuals lost their lives two days following an American Airlines plane crash, as another air ambulance collided with a residential area in Philadelphia.

Furthermore, there have been two aviation accidents – one in Scottsdale, Arizona, and another in Alaska. These incidents took place during the month of February.

People who shared Salter’s religious beliefs commended her action of blessing the plane prior to takeoff, appreciating her for a move they believed would comfort the passengers.

One person remarked on her TikTok video, “In truth, I’m not holding it against you. Let’s keep going and survive!
