He believes they will be remarkable, and he hopes he can join her in them.
In an unprecedented alliance that sent ripples through Hollywood, Amazon, MGM, Wilson, and Broccoli have come together to manage the James Bond intellectual property rights in a joint venture. The trio will retain co-ownership of the franchise, but Amazon, as the new owner of MGM (acquired in 2021 for $8.5 billion), will hold creative control over future projects related to the franchise. Although Amazon obtained distribution rights for all James Bond films, it only owned half of the franchise and had limited input regarding artistic decisions before. Since Daniel Craig’s final portrayal as the secret agent in 2021’s “No Time to Die,” there has been much media buzz about the future of the franchise, but no official announcements have been made concerning the next steps.
Michael Wilson, who has collaborated on the scripts for several Bond movies and also produced them, has declared his decision to retire from Hollywood. 64-year-old Broccoli intends to persist in her film career, shifting her efforts and concentration towards producing roles. She expressed, “My life has been committed to preserving and expanding the exceptional legacy bestowed upon Michael and me by our producer father, Cubby Broccoli. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside four exceptionally talented actors who embodied 007, as well as countless other gifted artists within the industry.” With the completion of ‘No Time to Die’ and Michael stepping away from filmmaking, she feels it’s appropriate to channel her energy towards other endeavors.
