The physical version of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’ has been released! You can now own it on 4K UHD Blu-ray and standard Blu-ray, which became available on February 18. There are three types of editions to choose from, including the Limited Edition Steelbook that comes with 4K and 1080p discs, as well as a digital copy voucher. At this moment, Amazon stocks the Steelbook Edition for $40. Since Walmart has already sold out, it’s likely that Amazon will soon run out of copies as well.
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Special Features
All three physical editions include a trio of featurettes alongside the film.

- Hera: A New Hero for Middle-earth
All three physical editions of The Lord of the Rings anime:
- The War of the Rohirrim Steelbook Edition (4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, Digital) — $40

The movie titled “The War of the Rohirrim” hit theaters on December 13, followed by its digital release only two weeks later. Despite this swift digital release, the film failed to gross over $10 million at the box office, which could have been a reason for this quick move. Reactions from both fans and critics have been divided; the movie currently has an average “mixed” Metascore rating on TopMob’s sister site Metacritic in both categories.

Anime studio Sola Digital Arts produced “The War of the Rohirrim,” a movie which unfolds 183 years prior to The Lord of the Rings events and draws inspiration from Peter Jackson’s cherished trilogy. This film, as mentioned in an appendix of The Lord of the Rings, primarily focuses on the kingdom of Rohan and its leader Helm Hammerhand, who lends his name to Helm’s Deep, battling against the Dunlending invaders from Dunedain.
If you’re planning to watch Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings Trilogy before The War of the Rohirrim, consider that the current 4K Blu-ray box set is on sale for $68 (originally $90) at Amazon. Additionally, you can grab The Hobbit Trilogy’s 4K Blu-ray box set for $59 (originally $90). If you prefer, you can preorder the upcoming Middle-earth 6-Film Collection before its March 18 release. At $191, this collection is more expensive than purchasing both existing 4K sets separately, but it comes with 4K and 1080p Blu-ray discs, as well as digital copies of each film. This is worth noting because the standard Blu-ray discs include exclusive special features that aren’t found in the 4K trilogy box sets.

In January, Walmart introduced a unique steelcase version of “The Fellowship of the Ring”. Due to high demand, it quickly ran out of pre-orders, but has since been replenished at a price of $35. If this steelcase edition seems familiar, that’s because it is part of the reprinted “Lord of the Rings Trilogy Limited Edition Steelbook Collection” from last year, which also sold out swiftly. It remains uncertain if Walmart will also release individual editions of “The Two Towers” and “The Return of the King”.
Discussing the new releases of Lord of the Rings, the impressive 5,471-piece Barad-dur Lego set made its debut at major stores in January. Originally launched last year exclusively at Lego stores, this $460 set constructs Sauron’s famous fortress, complete with The Eye of Sauron on top of the 32-inch Lego creation. Barad-dur now stands alongside the similarly large Rivendell model as the only two Lord of the Rings Lego sets being manufactured at present.
