Following the release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 last year, it appears that developer Saber Interactive is now set to create another game based on a well-known intellectual property. This week, Hasbro disclosed that Saber Interactive will be transforming one of its major franchises into a top-tier “AAA” title.
During an investors’ meeting, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks shared his enthusiasm about a forthcoming collaboration. He expressed particular excitement because he’s a fan of several games from the team they’ll be working with: Saber Interactive. This partnership will lead to a new video game creation, developed by the same group behind the anticipated 2024 release, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The upcoming AAA title, blending intense single-player action and exceptional multiplayer with Saber’s Swarm technology, is expected to be a success, as it’s based on one of Hasbro’s key intellectual properties.

The approval for the joint publishing agreement between Hasbro and Saber Interactive came after the Space Marine 2 team was tasked with developing this new project. In other words, they gave the go-ahead for the team to work on this Warhammer 40K sequel. Saber St. Petersburg, one of several Saber subsidiaries, handled the development. The specific IP that Saber is adapting has yet to be revealed, as Hasbro manages a variety of brands such as Transformers, GI Joe, Dungeons & Dragons, Magic the Gathering, My Little Pony, and Peppa Pig.
Among various video game endeavors currently in progress, Invoke Studios is developing a new Dungeons & Dragons title, Atomic Arcade is creating a GI Joe spin-off featuring Snake Eyes, and Skeleton Key, based in Austin, is working on an enigmatic project. Given the enthusiasm among fans of the franchise, it’s plausible that Saber would excel at a Transformers game, as this is one intellectual property they’ve longed to see more of.
Although Transformers hasn’t taken a break from video game development, more recent titles such as Galactic Trials and Earthspark Expedition haven’t quite captured the excitement for Autobot adventures like War for Cybertron or Transformers: Devastation did when they debuted in the 2010s.
Unfortunately, a highly anticipated Transformers game, known as Transformers: Reactivate, had to be shelved earlier this year following its development by the British studio Splash Damage.
