HBO has announced that the second season of “The Last of Us” will comprise seven episodes instead of nine, which is two fewer than the first season. It’s important to note that this season will only cover certain aspects of The Last of Us Part 2. This information was shared in a 2023 interview with showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who were also the directors for both video games.
According to Druckmann during his interview with GQ, the events of the second game will span over multiple seasons, although they won’t specify the exact number, but more than one is accurate. In the same interview, Druckmann expressed his excitement about the changes being made and seeing the story unfold again in a new version, finding it thrilling because it intensifies the emotions felt from The Last of Us Part 2 in an innovative way.
