Oscar De La Hoya Unmasked as Fuzzy Peas on ‘The Masked Singer’ – Shocking Reveal!

⚠️ Caution: The ensuing details pertain to the second episode of Season 13 of “The Masked Singer,” titled “Shrek Night,” which was broadcast on Fox, air date: February 19.

Back in 2001, Oscar De La Hoya received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album, which shows that he has some experience with singing. However, this didn’t stop him from facing strong competition during Season 13 of “The Masked Singer.” Consequently, on Wednesday, he was unmasked as one of the celebrities featured on the popular show.

De La Hoya, who revealed himself as Fuzzy Peas, admitted he struggled to compete against some of the talented vocalists he faced. “When they asked me to join the show, I hesitated for a moment. I do have singing experience, having released an album and even earned a Grammy nomination in the past,” he said in an interview with EbMaster. “However, when I heard the incredible voices of my fellow contestants backstage, I wondered, ‘What am I doing here? These people can sing!'”

Or:

De La Hoya, who was known as Fuzzy Peas, confessed that he found it challenging to keep up with some of the other exceptional singers. “Initially, when offered a spot on the show, I paused for thought. You see, I have singing experience, having put out an album and even received a Grammy nomination,” he told EbMaster. “Yet, upon hearing the remarkable voices of my fellow competitors backstage, I questioned, ‘What on earth am I doing here? These individuals can sing!’

In the game of guessing who Fuzzy Peas is, there were several misconceptions. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg proposed Antonio Banderas, while Robin Thicke believed it was John Leguizamo. Rita Ora went with Cesar Milan, and Ken Jeong guessed Pitbull instead.

De La Hoya stated, “My boxing experience has been a great preparation for ‘The Masked Singer.’ Performing on stage or stepping into the ring, with crowds of thousands or audiences at home, is similar to being on ‘The Masked Singer‘ stage. Before going on, I often feel butterflies in my stomach, much like before entering the ring. I would always remind myself to laugh, smile, and enjoy myself. Once the music starts, you find yourself in the zone.

In his show, De La Hoya performed “I’m a Believer,” originally by Smashmouth. If given another chance, he intended to croon a Rat Pack classic in the following episode.

He exclaimed, “It was an absolute delight!” He found “Fuzzy Peas” to be hysterical. It had him in stitches and on the verge of tears because it was so adorable. Each pea had three faces with distinct personalities that resonated with him. And he couldn’t help but think, “Wow, that’s me.” He identified himself as a ‘Fuzzy Pea’!

In the thirteenth season of “The Masked Singer,” Oscar De La Hoya was revealed to be Fuzzy Peas, joining Cedric the Entertainer who was unveiled as Honey Pot.

On the premiere night of ‘Shrek’, Ken Jeong kicked off the show with a rendition of ‘All Star’ by Smashmouth, which was then continued by the rest of the panel.

For Season 13, returning hosts include Nick Cannon, with regular panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Rita Ora (who is back for her third consecutive season as a replacement for Nicole Scherzinger), and Robin Thicke.

Or, in a more conversational style:

Nick Cannon is back as the host for Season 13, along with regular panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Rita Ora (who’s filling in for Nicole Scherzinger for the third year in a row), and Robin Thicke.

This new season introduces a secretive figure known as “Detective Lucky Duck,” who will make appearances to provide hints and aid the judges in solving the mystery of who’s hidden behind the masks. Additionally, there will be the “Crack the Case” enigmas, where extra clues will be given about the contestants who were previously eliminated from the competition.

Fuzzy Peas’ mystery case contained a golf ball within a golf glove. “I have a deep affection for this game, it’s one of my cherished pastimes. Wearing the second most valuable glove I possess, I feel like an expert, and my stroke improves noticeably with each swing,” he expressed.

Season 13 of “The Masked Singer” features episodes that pay homage to the franchises “Shrek” and “Ghostbusters,” along with celebrating the centennial anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry. In addition, viewers can look forward to tributes dedicated to the Rat Pack, a theme titled “Voices of Olympus: Unveiling the Gods,” a carnival-themed episode, a salute to boy bands, a journey through different decades, a fast-paced “Lucky 6 Speed Guessing” round, a “Clash of the Masks,” and the reappearance of “Soundtrack of My Life.

In Season 13, among the masked competitors are Honey Pot, Space Ranger, Cherry Blossom, Coral, Fuzzy Peas, Ant, Photographer (Paparazzo), Griffin, and Bat. Further participants will be unveiled at a later time.

Here were the performances on Wednesday’s Episode 2, “Shrek Night”:

Coral

Song: “Accidentally in Love,” by Counting Crows (featured in “Shrek 2”)

Panel guesses: Anna Kendrick, Dove Cameron, Hailee Steinfeld, Lili Reinhart

Hint from a Fairy Tale: “Coral and the Magic of the Silver Screen.” “By harnessing some enchantment and dedicating effort, you could also captivate audiences through your performances on the silver screen.

Narrator’s voice: “Well, here I am, bursting with spirit and vigor tonight! You know, that Big Donkey Energy everyone’s talking about. Let me clarify, we’re both tea enthusiasts without a filter, so when I encountered this seemingly charming guy, much like how Donkey befriended Shrek, I made him my pal. However, as I observed his unwavering confidence and resilience, it gave me a sense of security. It seems he grew fond of my corny jokes, too. And guess what? The ending was as foreseeable as ever. Yes, we ended up accidentally falling for each other. Now, it’s not exactly like Donkey and Shrek. More like Fiona and Shrek, but you catch my drift. Tonight, this one’s for my handsome swampland giant, my tall drink of swamp water. My Shrek.

Previous panel guesses: Bebe Rexha, Carly Rae Jepsen, Sabrina Carpenter, Halsey

Paparazzo

Story hint: “Prince with a Distinctive Voice.” “As an actor, I’m well-known among adults. However, it’s my voice that children recognize from their favorite stories.

“Reflecting on ‘Shrek’ and its profound message of not judging by appearances, I recall an encounter with a man who exemplified this lesson – Robin Williams. This iconic figure made such an impact in my life, even when working alongside him as the real-life Robin Hood, not Robin Thicke.

Despite his vibrant persona and successful career, he revealed to me his personal battles, a deep darkness that contrasted his lively exterior. In that moment, I realized the essence of empathy – we never truly know another’s struggles. This lesson has stayed with me throughout my journey. Robin was more than just a superhero on screen; he taught me to perceive the world in a broader perspective.

I believe he is watching over me now as I share this story, offering comfort and guidance to those who, like him, may shine brightly but struggle to see their inner light.

Previous song: “The Door,” by Teddy Swims

Previous panel guesses: Taron Egerton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Kieran Culkin

Fuzzy Peas

Hint from a Fairy Tale: “Blurry Green Balls and the Statue with Even More Fuzz.” “Among all my prizes, there’s one I treasure most – it’s a statue that resembles me very closely.

Fuzzy Peas’ Narration: “Welcome to Shrek night! It feels like enchantment brought us here. If there’s someone who can embody the charm of Puss in Boots’ sidekick, it’s me, Fuzzy Peas. We’re both tough cookies, ready for a fight and oh-so-charming. Ever since I stepped into the limelight, I’ve been captivating the hearts of edamamas everywhere. I never thought I’d find someone to settle down with, but then I saw her. And everything shifted. At first, I wondered if I was losing my touch. But when I looked into her smile and those big, beautiful eyes, I felt something I had never experienced before. True love! She made me a believer. Now, I truly believe that everyone can find their own fairy tale ending.

Ant

Hint from the fairy tale: ‘The Golden Ant’. Perhaps this is because my extraordinary singing talent earned me two highly valued Platinum certifications.”

“Fairy tale hint: ‘The Golden Ant’. Maybe it refers to someone who achieved two Platinum awards thanks to their exceptional voice.

Ant narration: “Every classic fairy tale has an antagonist. I had mine too – much like Princess Fiona, I was confined in a tower, frozen and alone due to someone else’s malicious intentions. He was my very own Lord Farquaad, who aimed to dominate me, being oppressive, arrogant, and cruel. He insisted that in order to succeed, I must comply. Be submissive, kind, and most importantly, silent. However, secrets can be toxic. And one day, when I looked at myself in the mirror, I knew it was time to escape my imprisonment and take charge of my own story. In retrospect, I wish no one else would have to endure what I did. I am here now to pen the next chapter of my fairy tale on my own conditions.
