18 years after the “Charlie Bit My Finger” video made him a viral sensation on YouTube, its original star explains that he seldom discusses his past fame during conversations.

18-year-old Charlie Davies-Carr captivated the internet with his youthful innocence at around 12 months of age.

2007 saw an incident where Charlie was the infant who nibbled on his elder brother’s finger. “Ouch, Charlie! You bit me!” Harry Davies-Carr exclaimed in response to his little brother gnawing on him.

Darn it, Charlie, that was quite painful!” Harry exclaimed, speaking with a British accent. The YouTube video has managed to attract an impressive 887 million viewers in its 18-year span.

Regardless of the widespread popularity of the “Charlie Bit My Finger” video, Charlie hasn’t capitalized on its fame. In an interview with BBC News this February, he expressed that while the clip would have been a handy talking point during new interactions, he generally chose not to leverage it.

Charlie expressed that he wouldn’t have chosen it for his trivia tidbit. Instead, he often shares something quirky or unique because he finds it somewhat bothersome.

In my school years, certain topics used to be somewhat bothersome, particularly when I was still young. On occasion, these matters would come up, with some teachers being understanding and sympathetic, while others seemed indifferent about it.

The viral video trailed him long after his elementary years, right up to college and his nights spent at the local tavern. He admitted that it particularly grated on him whenever it was mentioned in social gatherings with fresh acquaintances.

In 2021, Charlie showed his appreciation upon learning that the video had been sold as an NFT for a staggering $760,999. “I can hardly recall creating it,” he remarked, “but earning from it and enjoying experiences because of it is really exciting.

Even though it hasn’t amassed close to 900 million views so far, the virally famous baby from May 2024 could possibly share similar experiences with Charlie in terms of fame. Kate Wise’s aunt, Stefanie, filmed her niece responding “Me!” when asked who was thrilled to visit Orlando’s Four Seasons. The initial TikTok video quickly became a sensation and currently boasts over 85 million views.
