Tony Hawk’s New Game: Canceled or Coming Soon?

After the successful reboot, it appears that the Tony Hawk series is planning to launch its next game before long.

Back in 2020, Activision brought back the iconic skateboarding series that had originally been released 21 years prior. The re-release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 was met with an avalanche of praise from critics.

2024 marked the 25th anniversary of the series, and it was then that Tony Hawk himself disclosed that discussions were underway with Activision about creating a project that would undoubtedly resonate deeply with the fans.

During a conversation with AndyTHPS on Twitch, Hawk disclosed that a remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 had been terminated. This decision came about after Activision considered proposals from other studios regarding the THPS title, none of which they found appealing. Consequently, the project was ultimately scrapped.

Everything must have been ironed out because a new game is reportedly in the works.

Next Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater title “releasing soon”

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 showcase a total of 21 expert skateboarders, among whom is two-time Thrasher Skater of the Year award winner Tyshawn Jones. In an appearance on The Breakfast Club, Jones hinted at a forthcoming release of a remastered version of the game.

I’ve been lucky enough to land a spot in the freshly remastered version of a game that’s about to hit the shelves soon. It reminds me of the good old Tony Hawk days, but this time it’s even better!”

CharlieIntel posted the quote that ignited anticipation for the forthcoming game. Nevertheless, the fanbase finds itself at an impasse over which game they’re hoping for a reboot, given the extensive library of choices available to them.

“Tony Hawk’s Underground would be a legendary remaster if considered,” one fan suggested.

A second user suggested that “American Wasteland” could make an excellent remaster, and they’re eagerly anticipating the day it happens.

It’s uncertain whether items numbered 3 and 4 will remain under consideration following the initial elimination, but there are numerous possibilities to explore. In fact, there are 12 primary series installments and 4 spin-offs that potentially qualify for a reboot or update.

A new Skate game, not just Tony Hawk, is set to be launched in early access next year, 2025.
