Searchlight Hires Lucasfilm Vet Rayne Roberts as SVP, Production and Development (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie industry professional, I’ve just been appointed Senior Vice President, Production and Development at Searchlight Pictures – a thrilling new chapter in my career! In this role, I’ll be working closely with the co-head of production and development, DanTram Nguyen. I can’t wait to bring my expertise to the specialty label and help create some unforgettable cinematic experiences!

For a span of twelve years, Roberts held the position of vice president of development at Lucasfilm. During her tenure, she played a significant role in creating and producing various installments of the “Star Wars” saga, such as “The Force Awakens,” “Rogue One,” “The Last Jedi,” and “Solo.” Additionally, she contributed to the development of the Disney+ series “The Acolyte.

Before joining Lucasfilm, Roberts’ career path encompassed several years as a development executive at Gold Circle Films. Additionally, she served as an associate producer on the acclaimed documentary “The Fair Trade”. Her resume also includes roles as a story analyst for Alcon Entertainment and The Kennedy/Marshall Company.

Nguyen expressed great enthusiasm about Rayne joining our Searchlight team. With her impressive background and exceptional talent for storytelling, she’s going to be a priceless asset. We can’t wait to collaborate with her and create innovative, groundbreaking projects that will captivate audiences.

Prior to venturing into the film industry, Roberts honed her skills in photography as a photo editor at Vibe Magazine and Teen People, where she worked on fashion, portrait, and documentary shoots. She earned her BFA in Photography & Imaging from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and also holds a certificate in film production from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television.

Recenty, Searchlight Pictures unveiled James Mangold’s film “A Complete Unknown,” featuring Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan. This movie garnered eight Academy Award nominations, including best picture, alongside Jesse Eisenberg’s “A Real Pain.” The latter, starring Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin, earned two Oscar nods.
