Pyromancer’s Key location in Avowed

Should you decide to delve into Avowed’s initial region, Dawnshore, you’ll encounter a wealth of loot, fascinating secrets, and numerous quests. However, unlike many other keys you’ll pursue in the Living Lands, the Pyromancer’s Key requires a longer journey from the chest you wish to unlock. Intriguingly, the chest’s position within the small camp at the northeastern entrance of Berath’s Gateway graveyard might lead you astray, serving as something of a misleading clue.

The journey isn’t particularly challenging compared to other treasure trails and piece collections, but you might be taken aback by how far you need to travel. With visions of riches dancing in my head, I scoured the Overgrown Frontier and Ivona’s Threshold districts of Dawnshore until I discovered the secret key that unlocks the pyromancer’s hoard.

Pyromancer’s Key location in Avowed

You’ll find The Pyromancer’s Key perched atop a ledge with a view of Berath’s Gateway. To get there, travel along a western route that passes by the cemetery before ascending into the hills.

Starting from the pyromancer’s camp:

  1. Walk through the graveyard and take the path leading left
  2. Climb up the ledge and continue along the path under the wooden bridge until you reach a Xaurip camp
  3. Turn around to follow the path up the hill, now walking past the wooden bridge from earlier
  4. Turn right past the wooden bridge and pass through the crevice where you’ll hear the pyromancer blow themselves up
  5. Walk up to the pyromancer’s body and loot the Pyromancer’s Key from the broken box on the floor

After obtaining the key, make your way back to the campsite. To the right of you lies a shortcut along the ledge, and directly in front once you’ve navigated that, you’ll find the camp.

Unfortunately, the pyromancer’s chest doesn’t hold anything particularly thrilling, just supplies for enhancing weapons and armor – but since you’ll be using plenty of these items, consider yourself warned. Interestingly enough, the pyromancer carries something far more valuable: Anextli’s Grimoire spellbook. If you’re a spellcaster, this makes an excellent secondary weapon to obtain.
