Robert Pattinson Says ‘It’s Quite Strange’ Having Male Fans Now: ‘There’s Like a Bunch of Guys, Which Is a New One for Me’

Speaking with Sian Watson from Associated Press on the premiere of “Mickey 17,” Robert Pattinson found it unusual to have a fanbase primarily composed of men, which could be attributed to his portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Matt Reeves’ highly acclaimed 2022 film “The Batman.” A follow-up is expected to commence filming later this year.

Pattinson found it peculiar,” he commented on the large number of males attending the premiere of his latest movie, “It’s unusual, almost as if there’s a crowd of men, something I haven’t seen before!

Robert Pattinson initially gained popularity among predominantly female fans due to his portrayal of the vampire Edward Cullen in “The Twilight Saga” series, which consisted of five films released between 2008 and 2012 that amassed a staggering $3.3 billion at global box offices. This franchise turned Pattison into a global crush for teenage girls everywhere. In a recent interview with GQ Spain, he defended the series.

In an interview, Robert Pattinson remarked, “It’s surprising that people continue to say, ‘Twilight really damaged the vampire genre,'” he commented. “Isn’t it time to move on from that topic? It seems odd to be disheartened about something that occurred nearly two decades ago. It’s hard to comprehend.

In an interview with GQ back in 2022, Robert Pattinson shared that he aimed to make the first “Twilight” film as dark and emotional (emo) as feasible. At age 21, he was experiencing typical young adult turmoil, but his ideas for the movie didn’t align with the studio’s perspective.

At one point, Pattinson expressed that he aimed to give it an artistic feel in every aspect. There seemed to be a peculiar dynamic where the studio was hesitant about going too emotional, which he believed was essential for the role. Spending much of his time on set frustrated, he couldn’t believe some of the actions he was portraying.

After initially gaining a large number of female fans from ‘The Twilight Saga’, Robert Pattinson has now attracted support from men following his role in ‘The Batman.’ His debut as the iconic superhero received positive reviews and grossed an impressive $772 million globally. A follow-up film is slated for release on October 1, 2027.

Pattinson shared with EbMaster that he knows the subject of ‘The Batman’ sequel but can’t disclose it, however, he hinted that it’s extremely intriguing and thrilling.

In the coming months, I’m eagerly anticipating catching “Mickey 17,” a fascinating blend of science-fiction and dark comedy, penned by none other than the brilliant Bong Joon Ho, who took home an Oscar for “Parasite.” This intriguing production graces our screens on March 7, courtesy of Warner Bros. in theaters.
