As a dedicated gamer, I’ve got some news that might affect my gaming budget: starting March 25, 2025, Nintendo is wrapping up its Gold Points rewards program. This service, which lets me save on Switch eShop and official website purchases by earning points from digital or physical game buys, will no longer be available. It’s time to stock up on those games before the loyalty perk fades away!
As stated by Nintendo, points accumulated prior to a specified date will continue to be valid and useful. These include both digital purchases/preorders made up to March 24th, as well as physical games eligible for Gold Points rewards if they are released before March 24th.

As a die-hard Nintendo fan, I can’t help but speculate that the imminent release of the Switch 2 could be the driving force behind their current strategy. It seems they’re aiming to gather as much financial steam as possible before the Switch 2 hits the market. The buzz surrounding the Switch 2 is already electrifying, so it’s plausible that Nintendo doesn’t need to offer special deals to persuade gamers to buy games for the system during this pre-launch phase.
On April 4, there’s an upcoming detailed showcase of the new Switch model, known as the “Switch 2 Direct.” Additionally, Nintendo has planned global “Switch 2 Experience” events where attendees can get a chance to personally interact with the device.
