Ever since Donald Trump assumed office as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025, those who disapprove of his policies have found solace in artistic and musical avenues to voice their sentiments and fortitude.
A significant figure in this trend is Todd, often recognized as AGiftFromTodd on the internet, whose popular TikTok tune has resonated deeply with many users.
In my kitchen, I recorded a video where I voiced my strong opinions through my music: “We’re smack-dab in the midst of a ruthless government power grab / I wish to discuss it, but my job is calling me away / And if you’re thinking ‘hang on, who do we need to put a stop to this?’ / We had a chance, but unfortunately, that strong woman didn’t make it to office.
Given the unexpected turn of events, it seems we’ve stumbled upon a situation reminiscent of a classic Nigerian email scam. Who would have thought it was a Caucasian behind this? I find myself wondering, how on earth do we navigate this?
The video garnered more than 5.3 million views on TikTok and was played over 5.7 million times on Instagram. Many viewers find themselves captivated by the infectious melody; one user even commented, “Could we possibly revive the concept of ringtones?
One person suggested, “Post this on SoundCloud to earn from it since it would make an excellent background sound for countless posts.
Beyond that point, Todd went on to record a four-part harmonized rendition of the hit tune. This well-liked melody has also sparked an EDM reinterpretation by artist Vinny Marchi, now available for streaming on various digital platforms.

24 hours after the initial release, Todd shared another video, expressing his heartfelt thanks for the immense appreciation he received. He described the response as utterly incredible.
He mentioned that he plans to rework the track and distribute it on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others. He’s simply awaiting SoundCloud to grant him an Artist Pro account and endorse him for a Spotify and Apple Music account. Once these steps are taken care of, he will proceed with remaking the song.

The melody attracted even more interest following its broadcast on Last Week Tonight during the Season 12 opener, with John Oliver labeling it as “the most catchy tune ever composed.
