‘Peaky Blinders’ World Will Continue After Netflix Film, Creator Steven Knight Says

“Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight is not done with his hit creation yet.

On the “BBC Breakfast” program on Tuesday, Knight shared that the long-awaited Netflix film adaptation of the popular series has completed filming and is taking shape as an appropriate farewell – yet he suggested the tale still has much more to unfold.

The film’s production has wrapped up on December 13rd, as confirmed by Knight. “We’re currently editing it,” he noted. “And let me tell you, it’s simply amazing! I can’t help but say this, but we have an incredible cast – perhaps the best British actors gathered in one place, including Stephen [Graham].”

Knight announced that production for the film ended on December 13th. “We’re now working on assembling it,” he said. “Let me just say, this project is extraordinary! I wouldn’t be surprised if I told you we have an outstanding British cast – maybe the best ever, with Stephen [Graham] among them.

As a movie enthusiast, I can confidently say that the early footage we’ve seen so far has been nothing short of promising. Watching the rushes and assemblies, I have no doubt that viewers will be left in awe. It’s an extraordinary piece that serves as a perfect conclusion to this chapter of the ‘Peaky Blinders’ saga.

Knight hinted at potential future projects, saying, “On this aspect, I’m affirmative,” he stressed, picking his words deliberately. When asked directly about a possible new movie or series, he was vague but suggested: “I can’t officially confirm it, but I’ll simply say that the world of ‘Peaky’ is set to persist.

Stepping back into the gritty world of the Shelby family, I find myself once again drawn to the treacherous streets of Birmingham during the 1900s, as portrayed in this follow-up to the critically acclaimed gangster series. Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby, a role he masterfully embodies, with the script penned by Knight. Alongside Patrick Holland, Murphy and Guy Heeley, Knight also produces this captivating tale. The production is collaboratively made with BBC Film, and notable executive producers include Tom Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason. Joining the cast is Barry Keoghan, adding another layer of intrigue to this gripping story.

Apart from “Peaky Blinders,” Knight has another significant production set to debut soon, titled “A Thousand Blows.” This drama is scheduled to release this coming Friday on Disney+ in the UK and on Hulu in the US, making it an addition to a bustling lineup for the busy creator.
