Approximately ten years have passed since Hyper Light Drifter first hit the market, and this week saw the long-awaited early access release of its prequel, Hyper Light Breaker, following a delay of almost two years. Steam players have shared some less than favorable reviews concerning the game’s current bugs, however, Heart Machine assures us that they are working diligently to address these issues.

As an ardent fan, I was thrilled to see Heart Machine address the game-related issues in a heartfelt message on social media. They expressed their sincere apologies and promised swift performance enhancements. In another post, they warmly invited gamers with machines that meet or surpass the game’s system requirements to share their dxdiag info on Discord if they’re experiencing any problems.

🛑I apologize for any troubles you might be encountering! We’re working diligently on performance enhancements right away.

In the meantime, if you’d like to enable vsync, add this launch option in Steam: “-ExecCmds=r.vsync 1”.

We’ll be releasing mouse sensitivity settings soon as well!

Initial feedback on Steam predominantly leans towards the negative, with many users expressing concerns about missing sensitivity settings, rigid character movement and combat mechanics, limited customization options for command keys, and a seemingly weak narrative in comparison to the original game. However, some reviews do acknowledge the engaging combat system in this roguelike title. Overall, it seems that Hyper Light Breaker could benefit from more polish at this stage of development. Fortunately, Heart Machine has acknowledged these issues and has promised to address them based on user feedback.

At the moment, you can grab Hyper Light Breaker on Steam at a reduced cost of $27, but after the promotion ends, the price will increase to $30. On the other hand, Fanatical is providing an even more attractive deal with a Steam key for just $23.39. However, it’s still early to predict whether Heart Machine’s fixes will change the initial reception towards this game.

Fanatical and TopMob are both owned by TopMob.
