This year, Sony Entertainment’s movie adaptation of Until Dawn is expected to make its debut on the big screen, and fans are finally getting a glimpse of what’s to come with the release of the film’s first trailer. The cast includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Odessa A’zion, Ji-young Yoo, Belmont Cameli, and Maia Mitchell. Their characters find themselves trapped in an isolated ski lodge over a weekend, trying to survive as they navigate the danger lurking around them.

In a brief sneak peek video, writer-producer Gary Dauberman, together with director David F. Sandberg, share insights about the movie and their contributions to its creation process.

Given my strong admiration for the cinematic qualities of the Until Dawn game, I’ve pondered over creative ways to progress the narrative without simply repeating the interactive experience the players previously had,” Dauberman expressed.

In contrast to the Until Dawn games where decisions made by players lead to characters’ deaths or other consequences, the movie presents an alternate style by trapping characters in a continuous time loop. This mirrors the experience of dying and restarting, much like in the video game it follows, but with a distinct twist for the big screen. Whether this non-interactive format enhances or diminishes the film remains to be seen, making its outcome intriguing.

The Until Dawn movie adaptation is set for a 25 April 2025 release.
