On “The View,” entertainment icon Whoopi Goldberg voiced her backing for Carrie Underwood following criticism directed at the country music star for her choice to perform “America the Beautiful” during Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20th (as reported by Entertainment Weekly). Despite having long-standing criticisms of Trump, Goldberg expressed solidarity with Underwood. However, she clarified that she won’t be tuning in to watch the performance or the inauguration itself.

Goldberg commented that people act based on their own reasons, pointing out that prominent figures are free to handle politics as they choose. For instance, when MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski met Trump after his election victory in November, Goldberg noted this was a choice they made.

Goldberg expressed his backing for Underwood: “I support her decision to do what she wants. Just as I feel entitled to make choices about where I perform, I believe she has the same freedom. However, my lack of interest doesn’t mean I won’t be there watching; it’s simply a matter of personal preference.

As a movie enthusiast, I firmly believe in the freedom of artistic expression, and so it’s Sunny Hostin’s stance on the stage chosen by Underwood to perform. Much like her, I have made the personal decision not to watch Underwood or the inauguration, opting instead for a well-deserved day at the spa.

Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was employed under Trump in the White House but cast her vote for Kamala Harris during the election, voiced her opinion by criticizing the tendency to ruin people’s careers due to political differences. She suggested that if you have a grievance, express it by choosing not to download their music or attend their concerts. From a business perspective, she also thought it wasn’t a bad move for Carrie Underwood.

Griffin noted that Underwood will probably be celebrated as a symbol of MAGA and the conservative right very soon, and she’s expected to earn a significant amount from her performance at the inauguration.

On January 13th, it was revealed that I would be performing at the Inauguration. Overwhelmed with pride for my nation, I feel deeply honored to have been invited to participate in such a momentous occasion. Humility fills me as I accept this responsibility, especially during a time when we must unite in the spirit of unity and look forward to our shared future.
