Back in February 2022, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3, launched Rebel Wolves studio together with some other experienced developers. Last month marked the first hint at their debut game, titled The Blood of Dawnwalker. However, it’s only recently that Rebel Wolves unveiled a sneak peek into the game, setting the stage for how a medieval European valley came under the rule of vampires, as depicted in the opening scenes.

In the opening scene, we meet the game’s protagonist, Coen, as he embarks on a mission to rescue his ill sister, Lunka, from imminent execution by humans. Just in time, Brencis and his band of vampires appear, swiftly taking out the guards. Brencis then revives Lunka and informs Coen that they are now governing the valley.
The opening events unfold prior to the commencement of the game. By this point, Coen and his village comrades have been subjected to the rule of vampires for a span of two years. Coen, who holds the title Dawnwalker, is an exception among them due to a peculiarity – his exposure to silver has left him immune to full vampirism. Consequently, during daylight hours, Coen retains his human form, while at night he transforms into a formidable vampire.
In The Blood of Dawnwalker, developers have emphasized the player’s ability to shape the story. However, it’s important to note that time is a crucial factor in this game. Coen has just 30 days and nights to rescue his family from Brencis’ dungeons, and he must strategically use every moment. Players can also opt to form alliances with those who wish to defeat the vampires, but it should be understood that not everyone’s intentions align perfectly with Coen’s.
Additionally, it was observed that some humans stand by the vampires, as Brencis has protected and healed them during the plague. However, the vampires view humans as livestock, allowing no freedom of departure from the valley. Instead, these humans have merely exchanged their human overlords for new vampire rulers.
The game Dawnwalker’s blood (version) hasn’t been scheduled for a launch yet, but we’ll unveil its gameplay this coming summer instead.
