As a gaming enthusiast eagerly anticipating the potential unveiling of Nintendo Switch 2 (which might just happen on January 16), it’s not all about waiting for the next big thing from Nintendo. This week, they surprised us with an unexpected announcement regarding hardware: The Alarmo clock will hit the shelves starting this March, which is a bit later than initially anticipated.

The clock initially went on sale towards the end of 2024 exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online members. However, not long from now, it will be accessible for purchase by everyone. Nintendo has announced that they will continue selling the $100 clock as long as stocks last. Earlier, Nintendo had planned to release Alarmo in retail stores in January, but this has been postponed until March.

2025 Release: Alarmo – The Nintendo Sound Clock is coming to stores near you, starting March 2025! No subscription to Nintendo Switch Online necessary. Stock is limited, so get it while you can!

The Alarmo clock is a unique device that combines Nintendo-themed visuals, audios, and characters into an interactive experience. Instead of tapping the device to snooze, it utilizes motion-sensing technology. There are 42 diverse scenes available, inspired by popular games such as Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8, and soon, Animal Crossing: New Horizons with updates.

Apart from the regular uses of Alarmo, users have found an unusual method to manipulate it and run the classic game Doom.

From my perspective as an enthusiastic gamer, it seems that rumors are swirling about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. A tantalizing report hints at a potential announcement on January 16, followed by a release date some time in May or June. Excitingly, there’s also talk of Microsoft bringing Halo: The Master Chief Collection to this new console, and Ubisoft has been rumored to be on board with Assassin’s Creed ports for the Switch 2. I can hardly wait!
