In the Episode Heresy, Destiny 2’s Player versus Player (PvP) modes are getting significant upgrades. One of these enhancements aims to reverse a contentious adjustment made previously to the Iron Banner.

Starting in June 2024, Bungie increased the length of Iron Banner events from one week to two weeks with the launch of The Final Shape. This extended period allowed Guardians additional time to accomplish event-specific goals, but unintended consequences emerged in other areas as well.

Because Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris don’t occur at the same time, when Iron Banner is running for two weeks, it means that Trials of Osiris isn’t accessible during those same two weeks.

Episode Heresy Iron Banner changes

Starting from February 4th, Iron Banner events will be held once a week again. In response to a fan’s disbelief about the two-week Iron Banner run, Bungie confirmed this change in an X/Twitter post on January 10th, saying, “We’ll be going back to one week runs from the next episode.

As a gamer, I must admit that I was initially thrilled about the recent announcement. However, when they walked back on the two-week run, some of us who couldn’t play every day during the first week felt a bit let down. The initial two-week window was just right for those like me who needed time to secure any potential rewards or achievements.

The speaker prefers the two-week variant because the reward bonus that requires four days to build up remains active for them. Moreover, they suggest modifying the 25,000 Glimmer fee associated with each Engram focus.

In the most recent run of Iron Banner, which took place from November 26th to December 10th, a new rocket sidearm with the Stasis element called Tinasha’s Mastery was introduced in Destiny 2 for the first time.

As an avid player, I’ve noticed the steep cost of high-quality Glimmer needed to acquire coveted weapon rolls in this loot-shooter game, which seems to reveal an economic imbalance that could potentially be addressed when the event resumes on January 14.
