Approaching the imminent launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, a creative player named Aaron Callaway has found an innovative way to extend his experience with a previous game in the series, Monster Hunter: World. Instead of waiting for the next sequel, he’s opted to tackle the game in an exceptionally challenging manner – by eschewing weapons altogether and relying solely on emoticons, such as the iconic Hadoken fireball from Street Fighter’s Ryu and Ken characters.

In a YouTube video, Callaway showcased a Monster Hunter: World run utilizing just emotes. He pointed out that he employed Street Fighter’s Shoryuken and Devil May Cry’s guns, but found the former depleted too much stamina and the latter wasn’t suitable. As a result, Callaway predominantly used the Hadoken, despite its relative weakness and ability to inflict a maximum of 13 points of damage.

Showing something is a different ballpark compared to just talking about it. To validate his accomplishment, Callaway shared gameplay recordings from his Monster Hunter: World run without any emotes. Even though there’s no reward such as an Achievement or Trophy for perseverance, the videos clearly show that the task can be completed.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share some news about Monster Hunter Wilds! Capcom just announced that there’ll be a cross-platform open beta in February, spanning over two weekends. Now, if you remember, the initial beta for this game drew in nearly half a million players on Steam last fall. Well, Capcom took note of all that feedback and made improvements to the game, but don’t expect those changes in this upcoming beta. Instead, we’ll have to wait until Monster Hunter Wilds officially launches on February 28 to see what’s new!
