On Wednesday, manufacturing activities ceased in Los Angeles due to persistent wildfires that were spreading through the areas of Pacific Palisades, Altadena, and Sylmar.
FilmLA, the organization responsible for granting filming permits in Los Angeles, has announced that “the usual staff resources typically utilized to facilitate movie production might not be accessible during the area’s State of Emergency.
The LA County Fire Department has ordered a withdrawal of all filming permits in Altadena, La Crescenta, La Canada/Flintridge, and unincorporated Pasadena that were issued for filming. It’s also possible that more permit cancellations may occur,” the FilmLA statement explained.
Although fire zones do not typically encompass soundstages, the current air conditions pose a threat to people’s health. As a precaution, residents have been advised to stay off the roads unless it is absolutely necessary.
According to their announcement, the filming of shows such as “Hacks,” “Loot,” “Ted,” “Suits: L.A.” and “Happy’s Place” featuring Reba McEntire has been temporarily halted. Fortunately, none of NBCUniversal’s movies are impacted, since all feature films are being produced outside of Los Angeles at this time.
Amazon has delayed the resumption of filming for “Fallout” Season 2, previously underway in the Santa Clarita region. The new start date is currently set for a Friday.
Due to fires in the area, CBS Studios has temporarily halted production on shows like “NCIS,” “NCIS: Origins,” “After Midnight,” “Poppa’s House,” and “The Neighborhood, as well as the taping of “After Midnight” hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, for the rest of this week.
20th Century Fox (Disney) has temporarily halted production for “Doctor Odyssey”, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live”.
As a movie critic, I’ve been left stunned by the devastating wildfires that have ravaged the Pacific Palisades and Malibu region since Tuesday morning. These flames have consumed over 10,000 acres, leaving hundreds of structures in their wake. Tragically, two lives were lost at the Altadena fire’s site, north of Pasadena, which too has claimed more than 10,000 acres.
In the wake of these disasters, many premieres and events across Los Angeles have been postponed or cancelled – including the openings for “Unstoppable” and “Wolf Man,” as well as the AFI Awards luncheon. This is a somber reminder of the power nature holds and how it can disrupt our lives in an instant.
