For the very first time, the design of the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 was unveiled to the public at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show, as a manufacturer showcased its Joy-Con accessories at this event.
As of now, Nintendo hasn’t disclosed specific details regarding the design of its unnamed successor to the Nintendo Switch. The only information available is an approximate release timeframe and confirmation that it will be capable of running existing Switch software, hinting at a similar concept and design.
Although Nintendo remains secretive about its upcoming system, accessory manufacturer Genki has shared 3D prototypes of the new Joy-Cons as part of their display at CES. A video of the supposed Nintendo Switch 2 mock-up and Joy-Cons was posted by Numerama on Twitter/X.

The newly unveiled Joy-Con controllers closely resemble the images that have been circulating on the internet. Like their predecessors, they feature a new ‘C’ button and are magnetically connected to the system.
The prototype of the Nintendo Switch 2 is larger than the original version, a detail that’s been discussed for some time. Although it remains a portable device, it’s approaching the bulky dimensions of devices like the Steam Deck and similar models.
It’s fascinating that there’s such a flurry of unveiling surrounding Nintendo hardware that hasn’t officially debuted yet. Third-party manufacturers are showcasing numerous accessories suggestive of Switch 2, while Nintendo remains tight-lipped and doesn’t publicly display it.
With the Nintendo Switch 2’s unveiling deadline in March rapidly approaching, one can’t help but ponder if there will still be anything new to share when we eventually receive a Direct update about it.
